Round 2 v Roosters

This is where all the rubbish talk about title contenders and premiership threats comes out.

The Boncos put 50 on the arguably best reserve grade side in the NRL and they are, according to the so called experts, on track for glory. For crying out loud, it's round 1.

If we beat the rorters by 10 or 12, I'll be a happy fan, BUT, the naysayers will be out in force talking us down because the Boncos did this and the Boncos did that blah blah blah...

We control games, then win games, and when we get to the magic number of 8 in front, we just amp up the defence to strangle sides into submission.

Who cares if one team scores 50, we can win most games scoring 20.

Ignore the haters Panther fans, they talk rubbish.

We should just rest our team for this game. The side that beat Manly in the trial could get this done.

But seriously. My side would be:

1. Edwards
2. Bizza
3. Tago
4. McLean
5. Alamoti
6. Cole
7. Cleary
8. Leota
9. Kenny
10. Smith
11. Garner
12. Martin
13. Yeo

14. Toelau
15. Papali’i
16. Henry
17. Sorensen

18. Laurie

No this Penrith team hasn't been known to run up big scores often during the premiership run. There's only a few 40+ if I remember correctly. It's just a different style of football. More controlled.

Correct me if you like but I just like watching the Panthers win, but I reckon we win more games by 8 to 12 points than by 30 to 40.
Winning by 10 in total control of the game is just as satisfying as winning by 30 with some minor defensive lapses.

We will tear this team apart on the edges.. Cleary will have them ice skating.

We dont usually win by big scores, but ill be having a bet at the 40+ market..

Robbo has overseen the worst fall from grace in their history, poor planning knowing what was happening to the team with so many moving on..

Since 2020, we've only scored 50+ points 3 times.
v Sharks (2020) 56-24
v Rabbits (2021) 56-12
v Raiders (2023) 53-12

Have score 40+ 18 times over the same period.

I agree with @WestyLife, we don't blow teams off the park too often. At times it almost seems like we deliberately hold back when we're attacking the line.

Without running the numbers, I think we probably score most of our points in the final 20mins of the match - we just wear them down over the full 80, and grab a couple of pies at the end to celebrate.

I'll be happy with a 7 point win and no injuries if I'm honest.

Yes we do. We play % footy and as such don't offload or really have many in the side that are suited to more open footy

Its funny though, we are almost 1st in points scored for the last 4 or 5 years!

I agree. It's certainly easier on the heart not having a Reece walsh who's both an electric talent but has more errors than anyone on the field.

13+ win will do just fine - the only points we should be worried about are the 2 competition points.

Brisbane can score quickly, but they can also concede quickly and count for nothing :p

The 2023 Broncos were a very good side with a muppet as coach. If Herbie doesn't channel his inner Dyl and throw a pass to no one there is likely a different GF outcome.

This year they have a coach who has won trophies in multiple countries and at rep level.

Hunt and ARey are old men but if they're fit in the finals they'll be difficult to beat. Or they'll forget how to close out a game.
