Do you think someone could buy the club??

I love the club... But it just seems like the infighting at the top is holding the club back and worryingly it seems like its never gonna end...

I was talking with someone who's well connected to the Warriors... And he was of the opinion that private ownership would do wonders for the Eels.

He said that with the solid infrastructure already in place at the club and loyal supporters there's the makings of a great venture for the right buyer.

He did however say that you don't buy an NRL club to make money... There are far safer investments with far better returns available if you wanted to make money...

But he did say that if there was a wealthy fan out there that loved the club enough to buy it... They could do really great things for the club.

Now the question is....

Do you think it would even be possible??

Would the fans support it??

I would love for private ownership. I don't know if there is anyone out there who would want to buy us.

Does anyone have an estimate on how much we would go for?

Yeah I know how you feel... As he was telling me how the Warriors board worked I was just envious.

The owners just appoint the best mix of people who have provide different aspects to the table and that's it...

We would need an owner with the clubs best interest at heart though.

1) I have heard people wanting to do a green bay type of thing with the club, Sell shares and the like for many years.

2) Most Eels fans see Private ownership as a way to move forward.

3) In the documentary series "South Side Story" it was stated that all you are really selling is "The Shit fight and that is an awesome thing to sell"

4) Look what it has done for Souths.

5) What value would you put on the club?

Like it's been said over and over, look at Crowe etc with the Bunnies, big fans with the clubs best interest at heart have turned them into a powerhouse.

Get Simon Baker on the phone.

you could probably trade in some recyclable cans for it the way we've been going the last few years.

I dunno... The price of aluminium is pretty high these days...

You may well be able I get the Eels and the Tigers in a package deal...

Private sale would never happen unless the club were in administration and the members had no option but to sell to survive.

I think it would be more than an amount of money though...

You would need some sort of cash guarantee like tinker did with the knights...

Millions in the bank ear marked for the club incase the owner goes broke and puts the club at risk

Don't forget, that any sale would be the team only, not the Leagues Club and the huge money it generates. The team would need to be viable on its own for anyone to be interested.

Didnt Souths sell 75% of the Club for only $3million?

What exactly would someone be buying?

The big question is what, precisely, would be for sale. The NRL franchise?

Answer to 5) is about 5 x projected free cash flow to equity.

I'd like to see the NRL franchise sold on a 5-year license, and after that time new tenders called, with the Parra given the right to match the highest offer and buy the franchise back. Give em some time to sort their shit out.
