Yep, our form has been poor, especially effort levels for certain periods. And Moses/Gutho won’t fix that.

But sacking BA mid season achieves SFA!

While there is always the possibility that changes coaches next year will achieve not much, as may be in the cycle that our squad just is not good enough after 4 years of making the finals.

Even during our last period of stability under Smith, we made the finals 6 times before 2 years of shit, before coming good again 2005-07. While replacing Smith with Hagan, started the period of decline….

Anyhow, I wouId have had a crack at Bennett. Not often an opportunity to have an elite coach comes along. It’s a massive missed opportunity.

I do think it’s time for a change and I expect it will happen once the season is over! The eels have already alluded that BA position will be reviewed after the season. And TBH I wouldn’t be surprised if BA walks if we don’t make the finals.

Plenty of time between August/September to review BA’s performance, recruit a coach and be ready for November.

BTW it’s been rumoured Holbrook is probably the leading contender at this stage.
Did you just read my post? 2006 shows that it can do much more than SFA. put in anyone but him and announce the 2025 coach ASAP so players know who they are going to be led by.

I think he did quit because the lemon had been squeezed dry and we were losing. He did the honourable thing and quit despite having a contract until the end of 2006. Remember JT replaced him and we made the semis from a similar position to what we have now.
Yep, form was poor, after being minor premiers the year before….think it was the week Smith/Riddell were on a bender and missed training/came to training drunk

Roosters won’t let him leave. And it’s to hard to start mid season, never happens for new coaches, as they want to start fresh, with the pre season.
They all have clauses in their contracts for a NRL gig but I concede doing it now would be disruptive to the Roosters campaign and they’d block it.

I’d still get a caretaker in. I’d even give it to Cayless. Not Barrett under any circumstances.

Storm had 3, yes 3, spine players missing and put 30 on us in second half. Didn't worry them. In fact plenty of teams are missing their halfback and keep winning so that argument doesn't hold water as far as I'm concerned. And yes, D doesn't come down to 2 missing players, its a whole of team effort and been missing for years. That is ON BA.
Well, the buck does stop with BA, but the depth is poor. I think it is evident from the Neville Nobody's that Storm keep bringing on that they all have youth, talent and enthusiasm. In the forwards, all we have (so far) is Moretti and I am not sure he has much more improvement in him.

Whilst Cayless has the twos humming, we really only have Doorey and Charlie who could step up now. Otherwise there is no real pressure on the NRL squad. Matto will come back. That's three.

We have become so forgiving of Blaize's rookie errors, that we might as well bring on Ethyn Martin for Sivo and forgive him the same way.

This underlines the failure to recruit anyone when the 2022 crew left, the juniors are progressing slowly after being an afterthought for a couple of years. Unfortunately there is still a chasm in identifying and signing players from our own juniors.
O’Sullivan is available, what ! we could target an experienced and successful HOF , maybe he doesn’t have a series of degree qualifications , so may not meet the boards criteria.

Yes. The club handled the juniors during covid poorly compared to other clubs. That is evident by the huge gap we have in talent coming through and others seemingly don't. As you say, losing those players after the GF and doing f**k all about it, proved to be telling.

Hes been my tip since he controlled that Eels Under 21s (?) Team. One just has to hope he brings top ppl with him to cover his shortfalls.

Our problems always been when the going gets tough we f**king fold. We don't want to get dirty and grind and play tough. We'll maybe once a month. We put in am effort against Brisbane and that was it for a few weeks......

Let's see how BA goes picking his side tommorow. If Grieg isn't in for Jnr along with Doorey for Lane then he has lost me.
Morreti must stay and Makatoa goes for Matto.
Obviously Lussick gets dropped for Hands.
I expect atleast 3 of these to happen.

Greigs not a first grader mate. Everyone knows that except Brad who has kept him here for two and a half seasons and still lacks conditioning

Last season he held up well whilst RCG amd JNR where injured.
If anything it's a wake up call to Jnr who is just not mobile enough. Grieg may not be much better but you give him a shot.
