The reality for me is that had we not sacked BA when we did, we would likely have gone a bit better than we have been. He should've been punted at the end of last season, or Bennett chased and signed in the off season, and then this would be BA's last year. This mid-season sacking just ended what was already a season going nowhere.

Although the Moses/Gutho injuries was the main reasons we were poor before he was sacked, we appear to be just running through the motions each week now, taking the easy options, when we need to play tough and hard. With the all injuries now, I just don't think they can be arsed at the moment.

I suspect these players are just having a sook because they're not happy with the BA sacking decision. This is a big part of why a change was obviously needed, because these mentally piss-weak merkins need a real shake up.

After a 12 win season? Absolutely insane.
The Panthers sacked their previous coach whilst they were still in the Top 4...

They've since gone on to make 4 Grand Finals and win 3 Premierships in the following 5 years.

Who gives a f**k how you're going in a season. If you're no longer the best option, then it's time for you to pack up your gear up and f**k off.

And replaced him with a coach they had previously sacked for missing the finals twice in three years. It's obvious that coach signing was about retaining one particular player in the face of a threat from the Roosters. That whole episode shows how little coaching matters compared to player recruitment and retention.

But that wasn't their intention when they actually sacked the coach who had them in the Top 4...it's actually the exact same circumstances we faced.

Gus has previously admitted he sacked Griffin to attempt to obtain Wayne Bennett. He had ZERO intention of having Ivan coach the team. Once Griffin was gone it was the Board who stepped and acted outside of Gus and employed Ivan. After that, there was no reason for Gus to stick around as he was no longer required.

However, Griffin was still punted because he was no longer the best person to coach the team, which was my original point.

Our previous coach hasn't been the best person available to coach the team for some years, and should've actually have been shown the door much earlier. The moment Flanagan or Hasler or Bennett became available he should've been replaced

But we're talking about the coach, and his record over 11 years.

Surely four years of that is too small a sample size...
His record pre-2019 was at a weaker, less professional club. It is markedly different to his record since the new governance structure. Even including 2023 and 2024 it is 58%, compared to only 45% beforehand. The four years was indeed a small sample, but the preceding five years didn't reflect Arthur's ability to coach under the new management.

Gould 'admits' nothing in public. He is an NRL club boss and a media figure who sells narratives.

The Broncos also punted the 'underperforming' Wayne Bennett (who still hasn't won a premiership) and brought in Seibold, who had Souths challenging for a premiership. The grass isn't always greener.

Funny, I thought BA was Eels coach before and after 2019...

Well, they wouldn't would they.... Given the new management of 2019 occurred after the preceding five years you're now somehow trying to discount from BA's coaching record.
