I think Brad Arthur has done a remarkable job.
It's easy to get caught up in the Spoon he helped us win, but the facts are:
* he inherited a mess of a squad
* he inherited a mess of a cap
* he had instability at board level to deal with
* he did not receive enough help from Assistant Coaches, etc.
* he led us through a dark period in our club's history with grace, dignity, and passion
He still has a lot to learn, but he's doing a great job, imo.
He's recruited very astutely - Ferguson, Lane, Junior, Moses, and Gutherson were all inspired signings.
He is building a squad with talented youngsters, bolstered by experienced veterans.
We have been missing Ma'u, Nathan Brown, and Dylan Brown for most of the season - but players like Oregon Kaufusi, David Gower, Ray Stone, and Jaeman Salmon have stepped up to the plate, and we haven't missed a beat. That's the sign of a good roster, imo.
His "failures" were signed for the right reasons; Choc was brought in for some mongrel, and leadership, and Evans was signed to give us some height in the middle third. They obviously haven't worked out for the best, but it's pleasing to see that he recruited with a plan in mind, and stuck with it.
He has shown he can get the best out of his players; David Gower has arguably been in career-best form since playing under Arthur; Moses is playing the best footy of his life; Timmy and Paulo are playing big minutes, and having major impacts on games.
So, in summary, yes - I believe he is the best man to take us forward, and I honestly believe we will win a Premiership under Arthur.
