Does this inspire confidence?

So so in the confidence scale..

It's TV One News so the boot is put in at every opportunity.
The club knows that, hence SK'S remarks.

It's odd that players have been "put on notice" when you consider the press pre nines.." It's not something we're taking seriously, a decent hit out".

So now it's a different story to please the Fans/media ?

Not a lots changed on the bullshit scale either, it seems.

Yeah but.... you still have expectations in terms of performance. You might not expect to win but you expect effort and the basics to be done. Those two were pretty poor.

There's an old saying. The standard you walk past is the standard you set. Those guys were playing for spots in round one and amongst others were poor. Win lose or draw there's certain non negotiables for all players to achieve.

I only caught the warrior's first game of nines on the telly, and noticed two things that made me laugh with a bitter twinge.

The mfers still can't pass for shit!
And hands like t#ts!

It's a bit rich if the coach says they have things like the saying 'above the line' then he says there's not much emphasis being put on the 9s. Sports people are human beings, it's not feasible to expect they'll produce their best when you've given them an out.

To me, the playing for spots begins this weekend. Emphasis on 'playing'. The training and showing efforts for spots started in November and no doubt some have revealed themselves to be up for it, some not. There'll be some who have worked hard to get in the frame, some who haven't worked hard enough nor played well enough in 2016 to be a bona fide pick, and those will be decided over the next two weeks. I don't see that a 9s tournament meant a thing in terms of playing for spots, unless someone absolutely jetted it ala Kata 2015.

He's correct both ways though. It's not confusing at all. He couldn't give a flying wazoo about winning the Nines, but it doesn't mean you put in a poor representation in our jersey. Lack of effort or lack of basics is not to be tolerated at any time. Seems really simple and spot on.

To me, you're either trying to win it or you're there making up numbers. Kearney put them in the second category.

Look at Brad Arthur, he was there barking orders demanding the best from his side. They didn't win I get it, but he put a reasonable side forward and let them know they were expected to bar up and play well. Publicly at least, SK let our guys know subconsciously that they didn't HAVE to. To demand a full effort, he had to at least eliminate the mention of not winning, or ultimately say they were there to win it. We the public weren't going to rip his head off for saying the 9s are an important stepping stone on the way to the big goal.

To me, every time a player pulls on a Warrior's jersey he should give his best.
Anything less is unacceptable and calls into question the standards being set at training.

summed it up right there. It's not about win lose or draw. It's the non negotiable standards that players must adhere to. The trials are coming up and generally they're Mickey Mouse team picks. But every player worth his salt knows that a poor attitude in those games means there will be consequences. It's the same as the Nines.
