Crowd trouble has marred the Bulldogs' 29-22 NRL victory over ladder leaders Brisbane at Telstra Stadium.

A large firework which was detonated in the northern grandstand in the 69th minute was the main talking point of the game, despite the Bulldogs running out five tries to four to jump from 10th to fourth on the congested NRL ladder.

No one was injured by the explosion which sent a shudder around the stadium. Police were investigating the matter.

It was yet another controversy sparked by the Bulldogs fans.

Canterbury supporters were involved in ugly scenes during a 2004 round three 35-0 win by the Sydney Roosters at Aussie Stadium.

The NRL threatened to deduct four competition points from the Bulldogs for any repeat scenes but that expired at the end of 2004.

lol PW, that's footy mate. Oh well.

We didn't play badly tonight, just slipped up in a few areas at what proved to be key moments. And in constrast the Dogs seemed a touch more desperate and held on for a much needed win.

We didn't lose much at all tonight, apart from the scoreline. A good tough contest that we needed against an extremely physical outfit.

Congrats to the Dogs on a much needed victory.

Cheers.

how about the crowd, 29k!

well done dogs fans, stand and cheer. Lets not worry about what one cockface decided to do.

For mine it has already been blown well out of proportion

Unfortunately in things like this, one can ruin it for thousands, but its always the same ones.

I think there will be plenty worrying about it, particularly in light of recent events overseas.

It was a great game, up to that point......I couldnt enjoy it after the explosion....I'm sure I wasnt alone.

Calm down you genius, leading the comp and this is how you go off after one loss.

why am i a genius? because im upset my team lost? i wish i could take losing as easily as you.

Am I happy about the loss? No, of course not, the game was there for the taking and their hands let them down.

Why are you a genius? Look at the way you went off, you'd swear we were in the position Newcastle is, or Souths.

It's fine to be upset, but you carry on as though Berro and Hodges just cost us a Grand Final.

It's only round 20 and there's still plenty of time to iron out any kinks before finals time.

geez i don't know brisbane fans, i'd be very worried if I were you. The dogs carved you up on the fringes of the ruck, exposing how immobile your big pack is. You've got great scrambling defence and it kept you in the game, but the short passing game of the forwards exposed some big chinks in Brisbane's game.

i wasnt getting angry at hodges, i was just saying i wish he held on to the ball. i wasnt swearing or anything at the broncos, it was more on how frustrating the game was, it was there for us to win.

To be honest I thought both teams weren't that good. The Channel 9 commentators were saying it was massive on the richter scale and things like that.

Sure there might have been some hard running and big hits, but both teams gave away silly penalties, took the wrong options in attack, dropped the ball in try scoring situations, plenty of unforced errors and even had some dreadful kicks to throw in.

There was also a lot of enterprising play and great defence but overall I think both coaches would see plenty of room for improvement.

I was extremly frustrated after watching that display but no way should we be worried. We lacked execution, get that right and we win the match, in particular Berrigan grounds that ball and the doggies blow a 12 point lead and it's all over.
