And so are the other nations, Fiji selecting Jarryd Hayne for the WC should never have happened. Enough with protecting the smaller nations on this matter.

The ARL/RLIF should never have told Hayne he was OK to play for Fiji at the WC and it wouldn't affect his chances of playing for the Kangaroos.

No nation is a fault. They are just selecting the best players that are available for them. This directing all the blame towards the national governing bodies is just crap as they arent the problem, they are the solution how ever.

Sorry mate I have to disagree there. The problem is nations are choosing or enticing playes that are NOT available to them. I agree though that the governing bodies ARE the solution.

I respect your disagreement and I can see why you do.

An independent board running the RLIF would solve alot of this, a board that has the interests of growing the game while embellishing the strengths of our stronger nations.

You cant expect the ARL to make alterations to their competition (Origin) for the good of the game. It would be nice but you cant begrudge them for it. If it had financial benefits for other nations then yes I think they should, but in this instance, Origin's purpose is a tool to develop players for the Kangaroos.

Why can't we? Origin would still remain a selection tool for the Kangaroos, just ignore the players that aren't going to play for the Roos. Same as club players who aren't eligible are ignored for Origin.

As for 'weakening' the Kangaroos, nonsense. The Kangaroos could pick a second squad entirely and would still probably be the best in the world. Of the entire 2009 4Nations squad, only Civoneceva, Hayne, and Farah would potentially play for a minnow nation. It would be an immense benefit to Fiji and Lebanon, and pretty much no difference to Australia.

International players should be allowed to play Origin IF they are actually NSW or QLDers. I'm not suggesting every Fijian to every set foot in NSW is eligible - but someone who has lived in NSW for most of their life and has Fijian background should be allowed to represent both.

Yes, but none of them have played for more than one country. And that's the point.

Now thats one point we both agree on. Once you are committed at Senior level, (i.e. over 16s) you should be bound by your decision.

The shirt hopping that goes on is a disgrace and an embarrassment.

I can't think of examples of NSW doing that off the top of my head, at least until Uate.

Only because the rules are so weak, its easy for a player to represent more then one country. Origin isnt a scourge, the international rules are.

The ARL make the rules for Origin, you must be eligible for Australia to play SOO. Its one of our tools we use to develop players for our national team, why should we help other countries by allowing their players play in it?

The only fair ways for Fiji to keep Uate (as an example) is for the eligibility rules to be tightened (an RLIF problem) or for Fiji to have more meaningful matches (also, and RLIF problem)

The rules are not weak, its the administrators in there that are weak. Australia basically does make the rules fro eligibility and they tend to heavily advantage them. They have gone and done everything to help boost themselves up.

Looking at the RLIF who actually is in the positions of power there:
Chairman: Colin Love (ARL/NSWRL)
Vice-Chairman: Richard Lewis (RFL/ESL)
Secretary/Treasurer: David Gallop (NRL)
Member of Exec: Ray Heffenden (NZRL)

See any conflict of interests there... I do. Its why all the other nations keep getting screwed. These guys will bend and break rules to suit themselves. They don't provide any viable competitions for the lower tier nations where they have an opportunity to play the best players, so they naturally want to switch to the Aussies, Kiwis and Pom's.

So we end up in a catch 22 situation where the top 3 don't want to play the others because they look at them as easy beats, so the best players from the other nations want to swap to get to play the best and weaken their own nations, these nations don't get games against the top 3 because they are considered easy beats, so their best players swap over to them because they want play against the best etc.... round and round and round we go.

Origin is not a jewel as far as I am concerned, in its current form it is a cancer on Rugby League and only serves to do damage to the sport internationally. SoO and NRL is driving League further and further apart from the rest of the world and very soon the NRL will become like AFL, a sport unto its own that only QLD and NSW play... Australian Rugby Rules ARR is a good name for it I think.

did you not read the bit in brackets?....i said of at least trying too..

feleti mateo is a case in point.....tongan captain and key figure...and the NSWRL stick him in city/country to get him into origin....

they'd have moimoi in a heart beat...and when adrian morley sounded out the idea of gaining australian residency so he could live in australia after he's finished playing..the NSWRL where all over him...

lets not forget the 1 true bone fide SCOT playing rugby league at the highest level... played for NSW (james mcmanus)

now uate.....leave em' alone
