Hurri, to make the semis, the games we have to win were the losses to the Sharks, Cowpats (both of them), the last one v Wests, the game v Saints reggies, and the last Melbourne game. And better performances v Canterbury, Canberra and Wests at Leichhardt. That would currently have us fourth, on 30 points, as the talent in our club suggests.

But because we have a boneheaded coach who couldn't orchestrate a win for sh1t, all we have left, YET AGAIN, is a couple of desperados clinging to hope like a Titanic passenger clings to a bit of flotsam.

I'd prefer to be on the Carpathia, looking on to 2005.........

Points differential not looking nearly as bad anymore, with the exception of the Tigers (+1).

Knights - 63
Raiders - 83
Eels - 91
Sharks - 93

I'm even more of the opinion after this week that we are better than 50/50 to make the eight if we win all remaining games. No easy task, but we're certainly not out of it.

I swear if the Fox commentators had said one more last night "Parra can't make the eight" I was going to do something very violent like stamp my foot...

Yeah, Pete, we can try.

Sadly, I recall these same people saying the same things the same time last year.

I can see it now. We are reling in Pig Ridell to pot a sideline goal after fulltime. He does it.

Then the next day, some bonehead makes a break, and passes the ball the friggin Daniel Wagon! :?

I'd prefer our guys don't even think about the top 8 and just try and play well and have some fun - cos frankly we don't need the pressure.....we played quite well last night when the boys were content to just finish off the season well.

We're not going to make the 8 this year. And frankly we don't deserve to either after our form this year. I agree with Strider, let's just enjoy the remainder of the season and forget about the finals.

Choose your selections for Round 25
Bulldogs v Knights
Rabbitohs v Broncos
Eels v Panthers
Sharks v Storm
Warriors v Roosters
Dragons v Sea Eagles
Wests Tigers v Cowboys
Raiders v Bye

Choose your selections for Round 26
Panthers v Broncos
Knights v Wests Tigers
Cowboys v Sharks
Raiders v Rabbitohs
Warriors v Bulldogs
Sea Eagles v Storm
Roosters v Eels
Dragons v Bye

Gives me:
Cowboys 27 (7th)
Raiders 26 (=8th)
Eels 26 (=8th)
Sharks 26 (=8th)
Tigers 24
Knights 24

Good stuff - some of the matches not going accoring to plan won't tear this apart. We have a bit of room to move, and the Manly victory really helped us against the Knights differential, and if we win the next three (have to) then ours will drop to around 60 or lower.

Not as bad as everyone has been making it out to be. We still have a chance

Ahhhhhhhhhh let him believe there is still hope. I think I saw HJ walk out of Parra stadium last time talking to himself he was mummbling something like " Parra can make it ..they can make it because I love smithy and the boys and they won't let me down yeah they will do it for me Parra, Parra, Parra," and while he was saying that he had a crazy twitch in his left eye like he was contiously winking.

Crazy shit man.

Nah, it's all just in the maths. HJ is a maths dude if I'm not wrong?

It was mathematically possible even before we beat the Sharks. Improbable given our form, but possible nonetheless. Whilst we should beat the Warriors, and put in a good showing against Penrith and the Roosters, it's highly improbable that we can show the form needed to win four straight at this point in the year.

I agree with what is said in another thread - just let 'em have fun and enjoy playing at this point. If the wins come then they come, and we enjoy them. No point stressing about the finals on this season's form.

The real important points

Parramatta MUST win all their reamaining games

Sharks, Raiders and Tigers MUST lose all their remaining games.

Knights must lose all their remaining games EXECPT for Tigers game which they need to win.

That is exactly the only formula. Nothing more nothing less.

Well, Hindy and the players think they have a shot. Mathematically they do however any such thought amongst the players should be encouraged not discouraged because with confidence and fans behind them no matter how long the shot, if we knock off the Warriors and a stumbling Penrith who knows what could happen in the last game. ;-)

If we won all those games we would be pushing top four. We had the best draw this season and we squandered it. And still we have some hope at the finals.
