A number of key players such as Wade Mckinnon, Eric Grothe and Dean Widders have only been signed to short term (in some cases only 1 year) contracts. We're placing so much hope in next year and if we lose our key players to other clubs after performing well then we'll be back where we started.

Personally, I'm concerned about Hindmarsh's and Cayless's futures....

Not really. Grothe is injury prone and if he has another bad season I highly doubt he will be resigned. Mckinnon played so well this season and I would have thought he would have been resigned to a longer contract. But if you remember what he was like last time he was at our club he was horrible to watch. Maybe they are just being cautious. I Like Widders but his a player who if he has a bad offseason he becomes overweight and practically worthless to us. In all they did a good job with retention and recruitment I think.

Well Dean Widders has always been signed on a year by year basis. Eric Grothe had an option taken up on his contract rather than being 're-signed'. An initial 2 year contract is pretty good considering he had hardly played first grade in 3 seasons at the Roosters. And Wade McKinnon has been offered a two year deal, nothing wrong with that.
