Dont you think Dureau would be a little pissed off

I mean sure he got injured but looks like if there is half a chance to get rid of him then he is given the punt.
Seems to be a lot like Luke walsh over again.

Dureau will get his chance again I have no doubt, however IMO.

A) The writing for him has been on the wall for a while IMO.
B) His had numerous chances to establish himself.

Mullen playing extremely average to start this year didn't help Dureau one bit. He is not skillful enough or exciting enough or dangerous enough to stand out on his own. He is a solid halfback and that is all.

Whereas on the other hand we saw straight away that Rogers can create something out of nothing. He doesn't need Mullo firing to give us some scoring options.

Who cares if Dureau is pissed off he's a dead set nuffy. He's had enough time time to show us something and prove he's our half for the future. We've been given no option but to explore all other possibilities. He can hit the road as far as i'm concerned.

I would have posted the same thing, word-for-word.

Dureau will get a run at another club and be as good as Walsh.

Knights fans will go on attacking our halfback till we get another Johns - which will be never.

Dureau wouldn't get a start at any other club.

Are we here to win a premiership or keep mediocre players happy?

Otherwise... What Whistler said. See ya Scotty!

We arnt expecting another Johns but a Cronk/Mortimer/Pearce would be nice

If Scotty leaves and goes on to improve at another club then the blame can be squarely put back on the coaching staff

Somehow I think that is an unlikely scenario though

Dureau won't improve.
Walsh didn't improve.
Other clubs will just work around his limitations and he will be a perfectly good member of their sides.

We are the only club who don't seem to be aware that little guys have limitations.

I actually think he's been more solid and consistent this year.

Unfortunately a few flashes of brilliance from rogers takes that away in my mind.

Rogers is a better prospect.

Honestly we won't ever win a premiership with either of them in the halves. They're decent back ups but not players you want to rely on for 26 rounds. I'll say again we missed the boat with Tim Smith

Todays Herald (Newcastle) has a story on the back page saying we are chasing the Bulldogs Ben Barba.

*EDIT*
Sorry just saw this reported in the "Players you want" thread.

Agree with Misanthopre. Both of them can go.

Wierd statement. Ok we get rid of them.
And replaced with who exactly? Ok maybe we will get finch, but he prob wont go that better away from the melbourne structure, and u guys will tell him to go, and what if he gets injured? We will have no depth. The time to decide they should go is the time we get signatures.

They are the best we have atm apart from gidley and mullen, with newcastles history of recruitment and a lack of halfbacks on the market that statements ridiculous.

And guess what, 15 of the halves pairings wont win the premiership, think the bars a bit to high, its about improvement and making the 8.

Barba would ingnite this team. I hope we move aggressively and fast on this one. Basically say "Ben the halfback positon is all yours. Now sign here!"

I also hope we get hold of BARBA, and I think because of his history with Keith Onslow we stand a really good chance with him. We would be getting another bloke who is, or looks to be, a bit on the small side, but he is not afraid to get in and mix it with anyone.

However, do not expect him to play halfback, because he is a dead set 5/8, and always has been and it is the position he wants to play, not halfback.

We are targetting both Barba and Finch. Be optomistic!!!

Finch is like a more expereinced upgraded version of Dureau and Barba is a younger more magical version of Rogers!
