I think his main attribute by far is his competitiveness. He's too good a player to be left out of the 17. Now that Latu is still on the mend, ½ it is, a no brainer.
I think even if Latu was ready, AD would have got the gig. Apart from recovery from his surgery, he seemed to be still not ready.
Luai is a natural ⅝ and he'll stay there for stability. He's played with May and could be a a real lethal combo.....looking good!
I like Latu, but it will AD’s to lose now, imo.

I agree but a lot can happen in a season. I want AD to succeed as well. He was great last year. I just lack confidence with him because I overrated him in the past.

He can be real good. It's just last season was the best season I've seen him play and he has had some shockers.

You still need to get off the fence and decide if he’s going to nail or fail it..anyone can put on a wishy washy $5 each way bet..that is,
If you want the opportunity to carry the classification of “expert”

Agree. The std of the whole team has risen somewhat, which will help him.
Adam does straighten the attack well so that will work in his favour too but one of the main attributes of a half is their passing and kicking game. He has to get that right.
A halfback's role is more complexed compared to a centre so I hope the offseason has helped him gel with backs and he nails it right from the get go.
We can't afford to get off to a slow start to the season. Benji has to get this right.

I'll live without the expert classification. It's hard to predict the future. I try and see pros and cons.

I hope it works out but I've been all in on AD in the past and he let me down as bad as any player has.

The problem is if they don't perform. I thought Galvin was so shit last season and he stuck with him and then he left anyway.

That was a major f**k-up.

Madden is someone who could get the job done and he is much more a traditional half than AD.

That's right. Smart recruitment considering at one point we had a plethora of halves.
Madden is not a premiership winning half. He's a solid reserve imo. Remember him playing for us.....one week he scored tries and played well but the next week he was outplayed.
He comes back to us after playing second fiddle to Reynolds with Hunt filling in. They also have Coby Black.
15 games in two seasons isn't great. He also had a serious pec injury last year that ruled him out for the entire season. Has he completely rehabilitated from this?

Jock is almost certainly going to be called up at some stage and there’s no problems with his discount standard game, so long as everyone else is buzzing about.

All of the top sides have quiet areas. We haven’t seen power and awe in almost all facets since smug ruled the league.

Last year was Doueihi's only extended period since coming over from.souths that he's not been either seriously injured or coming back from serious injury only to be polaxed again before he could even get back up to speed. Last season showed his game breaking ability...not potential..actual right now ability! He obviously thrives on confidence and self belief and he's s already a player who makes oppositions nervous enough to give him room and time. For me that's an attribute of a dominant half. That he's not ( in whoever's opinion) as good as cleary or Hughes etc doesnt matter a shit. He's had his papers stamped " utility fotever" but I believe that's a MASSIVE underrating and and insult to his determination.
Disagreements assumed :)

Madden would have learnt plenty being in close proximity to those “diamonds”for a couple of years...who wouldn’t
Was it madden that reynolds was cheering for after all was said and done. I honestly can’t remember. I think it was. If it was that says a bit

Good points Das. I guess at the end of the day it's the scoreboard that matters.
His goal kicking alone makes him valuable and from what I've read he's got a huge voice around the camp.
His involvement in our success or failure is going to be full on but it's not the be all and end all.
The whole team carries that responsibility.

I agree 100% with Tiger05. Last season was by far ansd away his best season in a Tigers jersey....which is quite a feat considering his injury history. I think part of the reason why he is going better is simply the uptick in players he has around him. The end of 2024, I wanted his ass out of the club......Im so glad to have been proven wrong with his 2025 form. Without him, some of our wins would definitely have been losses.

For me, I want the best option for the 7 jersey whoever it may be.

If AD was playing any position other than 7, I’d predict more of the same disappointment you mentioned. The last time he had any consistent time at 7, correct me if I’m wrong, but I’d say he was alongside Brookes. That’s a tough one for anyone to nail.
Fair call AD has got better players outside him that are more likely to get a result. But 1/ so did Fainu, and 2/ AD’s showing his wares in a position we were desperate to fill. not just as a genuine playmaking 7 but also someone with the confidence to steer the ship despite the daunting presence of Luai, which takes the pressure off Luai , so he can play to his potential as a roving 6 instead of being the disappointment he has been, for both of us. There’s currently no one else that can do both or even either of those things. AD is the guy

I think Madden could perform a similar type of role if needed at 7 or 6 I think is his preferred position? He’s boring and structured but that could work with Luai. He’s got game far as I can tell. If Fainu insists on being the enforcer with his tackling, I’m predicting more injuries and him missing out on the back up 7 position

3 for AD, 5 against (the judges have advised that sitting on the fence is a vote of no confidence. Also there are only 5 allocations per year of the title “Expert League Person”)

Im for AD as well.
Hes been banging on about how hes a half for years. Now he needs to prove it and I think he will.

Yep...and it's not as if by giving him his shot, we've taken some massive reckless gamble and forced another possibly better option out of the club. I think he'll go really well if he's permitted to be judged on his own merits.
