Gee, there is some nonsense on this Dragons forum. I come from the Steelers side of the merger. Illawarra Steelers were only in the comp for 17 years. The last four of those years were impacted by Super League. Looking back on it, Illawarra Steelers were a fledgling club. They didn't get the chance to evolve as a club. It takes decades for a footy club to become established.

Hypothetically if there was a demerger, chances are Win Corp would be the owner of the Steelers. Steelers will go back to having a full allocation of games at Win. Win Stadium most likely would get funding and turn it into an all seater venue. Also Win is under the VenusNSW umbrella as a regional ground.

Meanwhile St.George Dragons will also be full time at Kogarah Oval, however would Kogarah get funding for an upgrade? It is just another Sydney suburban ground like Brookvale, Campbelltown, Leichhardt and is not under VenusNSW. Which now leads me to the reality of St.George Illawarra Dragons. What is the future of Kogarah Oval?

If Kogarah doesn't receive any funding, then majority of the Sydney games should move to Allianz stadium. Chance for the club to generate more revenue and become more financially strong. As for Win, three grandstands have been built over the last 33 years. The last upgrade was 15 years ago. Although Win stadium does lack top tier sporting content. Maybe a demerger could fix it.

At the end of the day, we need to come up with solutions on how St.George Illawarra Dragons can be successful, rather than just tear it apart and endlessly blame one side.
The whole JV concept is flawed, and a smart club management would not have a bar of it, or at least, secured better terms from the NRL. Why weren't Easts and Souths, Parr and Canterbury, Manly and North Sydney forced to merge under the same terms as the two JV projects were compelled to do?

East’s should have; never would have made the Criteria of the time: Junior league, supporter base etc…; Parra wanted to merge with Tigers and eat them up whilst stealing the Tiger logo; that’s why Balmain chose Wests; Norths and Manly merged and Souths got the boot.

We've been a non-event for 14 years now. And we're not improving as a club. Since the Bennett years the highest we've finished on the ladder was 7th in 2015. This year we'll probably finish in our regular position of 11th or 12th. Very few good players want to come here, and you get the feeling that the half decent players we have are looking for an exit. No matter how you look at it, we've been shite with a capital S. So while I have always supported the joint venture, maybe it is time to do something different. Either dissolve the joint venture or move everything holus-bolus to Wollongong, I don't really care, something needs to be done to shake up the joint.

But I suspect we'll do nothing, and we will continue to languish in mediocrity for many years to come.

Good one. It’s really difficult to rise to your lofty intellectual ability. Please be a little compassionate toward those who don’t meet your expectations, O Great One.
Looks like the St George Illawarra Cookies are going great guns against the dogs, can I say Cookies without offending anyone precious.

P.s It's great to see the trumpster take on the chief who created this mess to begin with!
