its an absolute disgrace that we signed a PROP forward to such a long term deal, let alone on the money he is reportedly getting.. and then calling him a marquee player...

Pretty strong starting pack. Bench and depth is a bit poor.

I hope Thompson can work things out and stay, he's starting to play the kind of footy that we were hoping for, both he and Frizzell are a handful when they run the ball.

I'll get hung for this, but im not fazed if merrin goes. Plays good in S.O.O, but is inconsistent at club level.
if the $800k report that the rorters are offering is true, then i hope he goes.
he is NOT worth anywhere near that sort of money IMO.
if Merrin goes, and Hunt goes, and Harrison, farrell and green go, we all of a sudden have some cash to spend. B.Moz will stay, and we can beef up our pack.

If the figure of $800k is correct then he can start packing his bags. He's not even close to being worth that.

Does anyone have a wrap on Obrien? I haven't seen him do much in games ive watched. Am I missing something?
On other hand I think Shannon Wakeman has it all over him. Was player of the year. Big unit. Why is he not in the mix!

Not sure on Wakeman, depends what happens with Packer, Stockwell, JDB... only catch with promoting him is more cap space.

OBrien I agree, has a big frame and shows glimpses, but I see his signing as a speculator for the future.. cutters only for me, needs to develop some speed.

I'm sure he was signed for size however he does have a bit of mongrel and fights in the tackle and often produces an offload. I don't think he was ready for FG but there was never any intention to play him this season. Mary did say he needs an off season training with FG. Whether he can step up or not remains to be seen but he does have the attributes. 119kg

Wakeman played some great footy and he was signed to the Dragons on a 1yr deal for 2013 I believe. I think he's only around 106kg so maybe doesn't fit in with our quest for size

He has has limited game time in 2014, but needs a bit more mobility to be any value at NRL level. I agree with dragoncountry, Wakeman seems a more likely type for NRL. I know it was only in NSW CUp, but that 40m try he scored was very impressive. Sorry, but I couldn't imagine possible signings like Rose or Gibbs doing that.

For those who missed it, Rose was mentioned in RLW last Thursday as being linked with the Dragons by this brother who is his manager.

Wakeman probably won't sign with the Dragons unless it allows him to give away his job he works full time then only trains 3 days a week yet showed that he can mix it with contracted NRL players in the NSW Cup.

He isn't the biggest forward but has a huge motor, he's rather quick over 30-40 metres and good defender.

I rather see him signed to a deal then say a Gibbs who imo is utter shit.

We have 3 young guys in the 20's that need to be promoted to the cutters next year, as a minimum (Fonua-Blake possible bench spot n NRL). Plus these two guys we are getting from NZ. Plus other fringers like Matthews and Ah Mau.

They really need to clean out the house and sort out, in pecking order, who's who in the zoo.

I agree. If these guys aren't aiming to play top grade then let them go. I also think the club hasn't exactly looked on the Cutters as the support team for the top grade. Our big mistake. Hope this changes.

O'Brien will get a go next year he's in the Dragons sytem for another two years.

Wakeman isn't even signed to the Dragons and people are saying move him on lol maybe people don't understand the system the Dragons and Cutters have in place.

If the Cutters where to become a fully fledged second grade team things would be simplier but thats not going to happen.

Players not aiming to play first grade wtf is with that statement every player is aiming to play in the NRL but alot don't make it doesn't mean they don't have the desire to.
