For those of you suffering from off seasonitis; grab a copy of this little baby (its a DVD) and enjoy some of the Dragons finest victories.

There is the semi final from 1993 where we smashed the Dogs 27-12 along with the 29-12 thrashing of the Bears in the 1996 preliminary final. Also included is the miraculous comeback against Manly at Kogarah in 2004, the 2006 qualifying final against the Broncos, and one of my favourite matches of all time; the 2010 preliminary final against the Tigers.

Having sat through the first two games, I have to say wasn't Mark Coyne a special player...he was outstanding for the Saints! Bartrim plays a blinder against the Bears and there is also a vintage intercept from Mark Bell!

Ps. Nathan Brown still has hair in 1996

You're all welcome...just spreading the Dragons love :D

I just finished watching the come back against Manly and I got a little emotional when Brownie was yelling at the boys to watch for the short kick off with a couple of minutes to go! I realize that success is not the mark of a man, but the effort and passion he shows...I still love Brownie

Is there a Rabbitohs one?
There is a Dragons and Bulldogs dvd, both of which are packed with exciting finals victories and famous wins for both clubs.

Then there's the Rabbitohs dvd.... which has a handful of regular season victories with zero significance.

That NRL history/archives website is awesome. Going through Wikipedia now looking for past great victories of ours. Sucks each game is $20 a pop!

Might start with the Round 1 Newy victory from this year and build my collection from there.

I'll tell you where to start your collection...

The year was 1995 (rd. 4), the venue was Kogarah. The opponent was the merkinerbury Bulldogs (then known as the Sydney Bulldogs) who were favorites for the premiership.

The merkins are leading 18-16 with a few minutes to go. Terry Lamb grubbered the ball into touch to eat down the clock. With two minutes remaining, the Dragons feed the scrum. Anthony Mundine takes the ball at first receiver and busts the line on a 50 metre dash. Mark Coyne attempted to finish the movement only to be illegally thrown into touch.

From the ensuing penalty, the Dragons push the Bulldogs defence to its limits with only seconds on the clock. ENTER NATHAN BROWN. The cheeky hooker throws a signature dummy and crashes over the steal the game. Man of the match Wayne Bartrim throws the conversion over and a young 6 year old visits the Taj for autographs. What a day!

:

Coyney was a special player and a SPECIAL person.

I am pretty sure he donated his testimonial dinner money to charity - instead of adding it to his retirement fund.

Someone correct me if i am wrong....
About the donation.
Not about Coyney being a great person. There is absolutely no doubt about THAT!!!

There were a few here on the forum championing the idea of Coyne taking on the role of CEO for our great club.

He had a wonderful fend and an ability to really lift for big games....the perfect captain it would seem.

Haha! Great story mate. I think that is what a lot of people don't understand about following a team. It's part of growing up and creates memories. It's simply more than "just a game."

Unfortunately that game isn't on the DVD archives yet (either is the 2007 Round 4 victory over the Broncos). Also, the only grand final from the great 11 straight is the last one from 1966.

Also, I agree HOD, Coyney is a true champion and gentleman of the game. Absolute legend.

So, I've come up with seven games to tie me over for the off-season (as P&H decreases if you buy more than one DVD). Might buy one game every one or two months after that...

1966. Grand Final. St. George Dragons v Balmain Tigers
1979. Grand Final. St. George Dragons v Canterbury Bulldogs
1999. Preliminary Final. St. George Illawarra Dragons v Cronulla Sharks
2009. Round 4. Brisbane Broncos v St George Illawarra Dragons
2010. Round 26. St. George Illawarra Dragons v South Sydney Rabbitohs
2011. World Club Challenge. St. George Illawarra Dragons v Wigan Warriors
2011. Round 16. St. George Illawarra Dragons v Manly Sea Eagles

Fond memories of this game. Mundine destroyed them :D

2009. Round 4. Brisbane Broncos v St George Illawarra Dragons

I particularly enjoyed this game because it was Bennett's first trip north after joining the Dragons, making the victory even more sweet.
It was a case of "in your face Brisbane"
