The St George Illawarra Dragons have granted Dunamis Lui a formal release from his current playing contract.

The Toa Samoa international has been granted a release to take-up an opportunity with another NRL club.

Lui made his first-grade debut for the Club in the opening round of last season against the Melbourne Storm and made 10 NRL appearances in total.

“Dunamis has received an opportunity elsewhere that he would like to pursue and we thank him for his services and contributions to our Club,” Director of Rugby League Pathways Ian Millward.

“Everyone at the Dragons wishes Dunamis all the best."

The roll of drums when announcing his signing last year , and now - " we all wish him the best " .

May not be up there as one of the most destructive players in the game , however it would had been nice if the maestro , had given the man a chance to show his wares .

More so towards the latter part of the season , when the team couldn't even spell the word - WIN .
A bit of experimentation with other players may have helped .

Watched him play for the Cutters a few times - poor guy always looked like he was miserable in NSW cup, especially knowing he was not getting a fair crack at first grade by Mc Gregor. Well, at least we haven't released Marketo......

No big loss in my opinion. Average first grader at best.
Would much rather his spot being filled by a up and coming junior.

Just add him to the list of recent years where, players were signed up, never had a chance to play FG, even with injury/ suspension issues...yet then gets released early.
Another example of ongoing poor recruitment, salary cap management and any lack of planning and direction from the Club.
I can only hope the recent resigning of the talented juniors is a turning point.
Next to go should be Tim L.

Revolving door recruitment at its best at the dragons....
Buy 10 fringe first graders, sign them to short term deals hoping one of the 10 comes good...
Turn them all over within 18 months, buy another 10, and then wonder why the winning culture in the club is non existent.....priceless !!

Underrated player was absent from FG with no real explanation wasn't injured or suspended just dropped. Me thinks him and the coach had a massive spat!

He had a operation on his Achilles late last season. Could be part of the reason he did not play.

A shame. Better than Marketo and Matthews.
Indeed, but not going to lose sleep over this, we've got better back up options.
The retention of Marketo is a separate issue in itself. Matthews, I believe, is still under contract.
