Sig worthy quote
they say green is the colour of envy
Thank christ Canberra have sensible, logical supporters such as Skeepe.
FFS, Dazraider & Raiders_Farkwit are the dumbest duo to post on here all season....they take the cake & 1-2 sentences of their dribble is almost enough to make you want to vomit...
Farkin oxygen thieves the pair of ya.

They stayed at the bottom until 1956 when the club took on a new image as big spenders. Now tagged as 'the millionaires', for going on a spending spree in an effort to buy a premiership, Wests hauled in big names Harry Wells, Kel O'Shea, Darcy Henry, Ian Johnson, Dick Poole, Arthur Summons and Ian Moir. By 1958, now under the coaching of Vic Hey, Wests had a side that had almost entirely been imported to the club.
In the meantime St George had set the new standard of Rugby League in Sydney, winning the previous two seasons. Wests finished in second place behind the Dragons and they met in the major semi-final. The Magpies crushed the fancied St George side by 34-10 to claim a place in the Grand Final. St George fought their way through to the decider, but the Magpies were favoured to end yet another club's attempt at three titles in a row.
Wests then went into decline and 'the millionaires' tag became a distant memory as the Magpies struggled on with what they could. They did not return to the play-offs again until 1974
maybe Roy was right with his comments about knowledge?

Every club in the 60s had the opportunity to manage their finances. St George just did it better than most. Better attendances allowed Saints to get it together to build the competition's first Leagues Club. They started posting huge annual profits. The likes of Frank Facer, Glyn Price, to name a couple, placed the club way ahead of many other clubs in terms of financial management, facilities, training methods, junior development and recruitment. It took years for some of the other clubs to catch up. You seem to think it only happened overnight and the money and chequebook magically appeared. You couldn't be more wrong.
if stgeorge Choker dragons was changed to Illawarra Steelers would the ones that hate the dragons actually like the team or is it the players that annoy you more than the name of the club.
personally i would like to see Illawarra name on the title if they win and just cut out the st george part
This.I think it's mostly the fans that are the problem
Everyone hates Dragons fans. Heck, even Dragons fans hate themselves
Yes, finals are different, the Dragons become a lot easier to beat in the finals.:lol:Thanks for proving my point. All the talk that the Raiders would beat the Dragons because of their 'record' against them is rubbish. Finals is a completely different ball game. Good luck Raider fans.
That's a very nice story. Looks like the fibros tried to do what you guys were already doing but failed.
That's an even nicer story. Where did I say the money just appeared? Good on the Saints admin for making all that paper. What was the salary cap set at back then btw?....oh yeah there was none!!!...Buying up all those players with that Taj Mahal money huh?
I really liked how in that 'final winter' movie Grubs brother gets offered all that paper by St George to switch clubs btw. Even if it was set in the early 80s, it was kind of fitting don't you think?

LOL! Facts morphing into mere stories.Bobby DIGital said:That's an even nicer story.
You were saying that money was the only reason for winning premierships. At best, a flawed argument.Bobby DIGital said:Where did I say the money just appeared?
It was smart management.Bobby DIGital said:Good on the Saints admin for making all that paper.
All clubs were subject to the same rules.Bobby DIGital said:What was the salary cap set at back then btw?....oh yeah there was none!!!...
Well there were plenty of juniors as well, but don't let that get in the way of a 'nice story'. When Saints did recruit from outside the area, they usually did so from the country and Qld. Closer to home there was the residency rule... something else you overlooked. For example, John Raper had to sit out a season and live in the St George district before he could play for the Dragons. Hey, perhaps we could bring back the residency rule - it would do some justice to your district argument. That probably went over your head as well.Bobby DIGital said:Buying up all those players with that Taj Mahal money huh?
Enjoyed the movie.Bobby DIGital said:I really liked how in that 'final winter' movie Grubs brother gets offered all that paper by St George to switch clubs btw. Even if it was set in the early 80s, it was kind of fitting don't you think?
Penrith would be doing everybody a favour by spanking the Raiders on saturday they've become worse than the Parramatta fans who watch footy for 6 weeks of the year.

loved the steelers
You are an embarrassment to Raiders fans. Please, please stop.
Honestly, what a f**king stupid thread.
lol another genius that rides this thread off but still makes a post, man you know how to make a contradiction or what
Guess its the fans that people hate with the dragons and nothing to do with the club or players.
thats good to see, this may not be some political thread which some i guess want to read but im finding it interesting that people wouldnt mind the dragons if they just left everything to Illawarra Steelers
Don't worry, Raiders fans are pretty much universally hated on here after the way they've carried on here over the last few weeks. Welcome to the club, however this will be a fun place yet oddly silent if the Raiders lose this week ;-)
