Well in that case you are in step with the overall quality of the thread.

Every club in the 60s had the opportunity to manage their finances. St George just did it better than most. Better attendances allowed Saints to get it together to build the competition's first Leagues Club. They started posting huge annual profits. The likes of Frank Facer, Glyn Price, to name a couple, placed the club way ahead of many other clubs in terms of financial management, facilities, training methods, junior development and recruitment. It took years for some of the other clubs to catch up. You seem to think it only happened overnight and the money and chequebook magically appeared. You couldn't be more wrong.

That's an even nicer story. Where did I say the money just appeared? Good on the Saints admin for making all that paper. What was the salary cap set at back then btw?....oh yeah there was none!!!...Buying up all those players with that Taj Mahal money huh?

I really liked how in that 'final winter' movie Grubs brother gets offered all that paper by St George to switch clubs btw. Even if it was set in the early 80s, it was kind of fitting don't you think?

Well there were plenty of juniors as well, but don't let that get in the way of a 'nice story'. When Saints did recruit from outside the area, they usually did so from the country and Qld. Closer to home there was the residency rule... something else you overlooked. For example, John Raper had to sit out a season and live in the St George district before he could play for the Dragons. Hey, perhaps we could bring back the residency rule - it would do some justice to your district argument. That probably went over your head as well.
