Past experience tells me to wait, and hope. Nothing s a done deal until it is announced.

Not doubting CC's word or info, as I have no reason to question either at this point. I just cant see him leaving. Then again I couldnt see Bennett leaving Broncos either. Suppose we will have to wait till 7th and see what happens

Where did that come from? Bennett never indicated he wanted to go early.

Now at Newcastle with all the Tinkler trouble he has stated:

The Dragons made the highest offer and he went with Newcastle.
He will serve out his contract with Newcastle no matter what.

Doust, himself, said he offered the 3 years instead of 5 because Bennett would have gone whenever he wanted too. Contracts are easy to break if a coach doesn't want to stay. Bennett was offered more at the end of 3 years. He could have stayed, but obviously he didn't.

What do think Bennett would have done if, 3 years into his 5 year deal, Tinkler had come along and wanted him. Remember Bennett had achieved his goal at the Dragons.

Let's wait and see how much of his 4 years he spends at the Knights.

Bennett has quit mid-contract at every club he has coached at (except ours)

In all seriousness players have NFI about these things. Unless they are very senior and consulted on these things. I have heard from a board member that there is something massive happening in 2014. Makes sense if that's Bellamy. But we'll all find out soon enough!!

When did you hear?
I heard Doust was working on two really big signings in October but neither was confirmed at the time.
I suspect that the other is JMoz but that's complicated

On ABC radio last night I heard an interview with Melbourne CEO Gauci. He seemed very confident that Bellamy was going nowhere. I would assume that if Bellamy has signed with us and it is going to be announced shortly as predicted in this thread then the Melbourne officials would also know this and you would think less cocky.

Unfortunatley until it is officially announced either way, there will be ongoing speculation by the media, both fans and the drovers dog.

This is the voice of reason.

No-one knows what is fact and and what isn't. Maybe the man himself hasn't even decided yet.

My gut feel is that it will go the way it usually does with most high profile or elite sportsman. The tendancy is always for them to promote themselves by having their manager raise speculation about them, with the end result being that they announce they are staying where they are, and in this we'll have the inevitable Storm press conference, spruking that they have fended off a spirited bid from a rival club and managed to keep their man. Everyone's a winner, (apart from the club that missed out on the signing of course). Bellamy will be on better coin, and the Storm go into their World Club Challenge on a high having secured their future.

I hope I'm wrong but it just has that feel about it.....

But everyone here just tell me that all Dousty does is sit in his ivory tower drinking Crownies.

All the Storms coaching staff have clauses in their contracts allowing them to follow Bellamy. It would be a pretty standard clause for staff at clubs these days I reckon.

One of Bellamys key staffers was saying more likely Melb than Saints and he spoke to Bellamy on NYE.

I don't think Bellamy was ever going to leave Melbourne. His manager leaked the story to Rothfield and it achieved the result they were after - a significant increase in his contract over 5 years.

Does Doust have a Plan B?

It was interesting in the tele today the Storm management were saying they hoped loyalty would win out over money. It sounds like the Dragons have offered the best package. That can only be a very good thing. I reckon it is closer than I originally thought.

I find it very inertesting there is no mention of Bellamy on the Storm forum. You would think they would be having a minor meltdown with the possibility of losing their coach. Very quiet indeed.

Perhaps their 3 supporters are still on holidays and they haven't kept up on the news.
