The dragons had all the possession but the Eels kicking game was quite ordinary which meant we barely had any good field position. The error count only made things worse. I thought the team did pretty well to only lose by 6. Still plenty of time for improvement though.

I still can't believe Matt Keating's kick in the dying minutes of the game.
Same, f**ken woeful decision

without hayne the eels wont score many points like last year the eels were scoring less points then the sharks and warriors , will be the same as this year

the eels dont have any other option then hayne

My God get a grip, it was Round 1.
I guess we'll just go backwards now, while you guys can only improve.

not at all. I think you guys have a heap of improvement in you. However the style of football you played last year and tonight....you can't win the comp with. Alot can happen between now and the end of the year and I fully expect you guys to be close to the pointy end of the comp. Bytcome crunch time, against the best teams in the comp, playing their best footy.....you can't win the comp

Our goal line defence was great but dragons were able to run it out of their end too easily.

yeah, we struggled to get out of the 30 metres in the second half, whereas saints were clearing halfway.

Crucial play IMO was the Cayless dropped ball.

there were about 6 or 7 dragons in double try scoring figures compared to the eels 3

both teams are identical as last year

dragons ave 23 for

Ben Smith saved AT least four tries with his on the line defence. I thought he was easily the Eels best player.....
Fui looked short of a gallop. The team will improve...so will St George. Good game I enjoyed it thoroughly. It is going to be a good close competition.
Timana added a bit of oomph out wide, and he too will get better with more miles in his legs, and Jeff Robson was solid at half back. He's a tough bastard, that's what I like about him.
Lot to like about the Eels effort and I think Anderson will be pleased.

Great summary. I saw it like that. However I reckon Saints won't make the 8.

Could you get any more bitter. You make such a fool of yourself in the NRL forum, you'll make an even more fool of yourself in here.

So much improvement left in us, Not upset at all. Some good signs. just get the penaltys down etc.

You've got to give it to the Saints forwards they killed us.

Thought Robson did well with limited field position.

matt keating took some wrong options from dummy half.

No dramas buddy, time will tell, I'm happy to agree to disagree.

One things for sure, I'm happy with the win, but not getting carried away, solid effort by our boys to come away with 2 points from your ground, as I don't think many other sides will do that this year.

Be disappointed in the loss, but certainly don't be disheartened.
It won't be the only loss this season. More to come down the track.

why i was only responding to that comment . regarding the dragons , it was an eels fan who was bitter

on anohter note

i thought hayne didnt played too badly in attack , in fairness the eels attack didnt look that bad, just werent good enough against good defence

Saints play such a predictable game with the wide running decoy runner. They are crap. Soward's amazing kicking game keeps them in the hunt.

Sowards kicking game and our kicking game (or lack thereof) killed us. Soward gained great field position out of his half and conistently made sur we were running it out from our line. He got a number of repeat sets for them close to the line too.
We got no repeat sets, kicked out on full once and got charged down twice. Rarely found touch or space when kicking long. Altogether this led to us playing from poor field position all night and cost the game.

2010 tries for eels 2

Dragons tries for 2 Setup by Nathan fien (who is most certainly out for an extended period unlucky bloke especially on the day his wife has their child)

So yeah look at it this year when fien went down you couldnt score sh*t... Sowards attack pass it to the second rowers... (We get it Jamie ffs your a 1 trick pony)

Let's face it. Our season is over. I've got the butter knife out (the plastic one) and starting on the wrists.

I could be a while. Y'all keep talking and I should have at least chafed skin by the morning.

Well I've read your comments in the NRL forum and since you got knocked out in the semis all you have seemed to do is criticise Parra for their 'lucky' run to the grand final. Anyway, congrats on a solid performance and the victory.
