Yeah, nah. I’ll voice my reservations about Moses Suli now thanks, appreciate your advice though as always OT.
HNY Crush
No doubt we will get plenty of time to discuss Moses Suli and many others during the season
At this point in time I am keeping a very open mind as to our roster and as to who might or might not go well
A few of our bad apples are in other barrels now and I believe that will make a significant difference especially with a few true professionals coming into the squad
A lot to like and a lot to look forward to for mine but no doubts there will be some disappointments too.

HNY mate.
You have changed so much since the McGregor days, or McFooknuckle as you called him back then.
Woods, Burgess, Mbye, Moga were called “journeymen” by you back then, now they are called “true professionals”.
You’re certainly taken by Griffin aren’t you?
On the true professionals, these guys may well be professional in their approach to training, culture, team first etc but it still doesn’t make them good footballers.
I watched Woods closely last year and whilst his stats may be favourable in some areas he was such a plodder. Just jog, turn reverse and offload standing still. Sharkies fans couldn’t wait to get rid of him, hell even their new coach said no thanks for minimum wage.
I guess what I’m saying is I like your glass half full approach these days but I feel that it’s fraught with danger and that you seem somewhat blinded by your respect for Griffin. So far he hasn’t achieved anything IMO, in fact last year was terrible.

Don’t be mistaken about my stance re journeymen many we have signed are indeed just that

However there are gradients and the great Mc Fookknuckle was the master of recruiting the bog average, non professional, lazy that give you nothing type and also the show pony type that promised a lot and delivered very little.

He couldn’t even pick his nose.

Now Woods & Mybe have at least played at a higher level and always classified as dedicated and professional to their craft.

Burgess not really a journeymen moreover injury forced him out but Moga fits the description however both have shown grit, determination, dedication to get themselves on the paddock true professionals in my book.

Hopefully they are the catalyst that brings the necessary change in attitude and that rubs off on Suli, Ford and a few others.

Well said, I'm very confident the team will make the 8 with even luck.

Must say I enjoyed the discussion between OT and Crush.

This year will be very interesting as I believe the club is hoping that signing Burgess, Moga and Mybe will somehow cause them to either overcome serious injury or situations and they will recapture quality form from prior years. Each one of these players if fit and firing are top shelf. I remember Moga was sensational a few years back.

Suli has been shown the door at so many clubs, but is a powerhouse attacking centre. Just what we need. Again who knows; will this be the start of him knuckling down and fulfilling his potential now with a bit of age?

The much touted juniors have an opportunity this year to prove themselves at NRL level. I have no doubt about Sloan. Hoping Sullivan and Amone make it.

our pack definitely looks a bit stronger generally, with more depth.

I think we can make the 8.

I agree with most except Suli was shown the door at 2 clubs and was basically under 20 at that time and was touted very early on as another "superstar", in typical media style.
He is certainly not alone in that basket (including being moved on by 2 clubs)
Manly did not show him the door they stuck with him for 3 years, we offered good and more money for a valid reason and he is now early to mid 20's?
This will be his last chance to shine or perish, lets hope it is the former.

What was interesting was what Amone said about Hook, that he encourages the young players to really take an opportunity if they see one because he tells them that he believes in them and that he's confident in them. No doubt Suli will hugely benefit from that as he's a very good off-the-cuff kind of player who, when given early ball, is a terror for opposition defences. I think Hook can bring the best out of him. Mary would have destroyed him.

“Mary would have destroyed him”

That was something he excelled at and that’s saying something as he didn’t excel at anything positive

Well take the golden Broncos years out of Bennett's resume and the reading is little better than mediocre save the years with us.

His Broncos years were those of a club with unparalleled riches, money and backing of the NRL and with us he inherited a terrific squad that need the finishing touches so not so sure others couldn't have done exactly the same.

Now Bellamy is another story altogether although he never left the gilded cage to find out or prove exactly how good he is.

Hook has managed to prepare a lot of players to not only find their feet in the NRL but to go onto well established careers.

He might not be the best but certainly not the worst and has a lot more going for him than you are obviously willing to concede.
