Dragons - The Positives from 2005

Like most of you, I'm still gutted after Saturday night. However, keep your chin up - we've got a realistic chance of lifting the trophy, unlike some of the no-hopers who have been getting stuck in since our loss on Saturday night.

I take plenty of positives away from 2005... I'm sure I've left plenty out, but here goes;

Nathan Brown: is maturing into a very capable coach: he's not afraid to ask for help where he needs it, & will benefit from a very tough start to 2005. There'll be tough times ahead - but he's got the makings of a Premiership winning coach.

Trent Barrett: has proven himself a leader. His team respect him on & off the field, & should lead this team to success sooner rather than later.

Matty Head: if anyone doubts how good this guy is, have a look at the 2005 highlights - he is a genius in the making. He probably won't make many rep sides, but he'll be the cornerstone of our club's success.

Thanks Dragons_#1!

Forwards: Whilst we're losing Bailey at the end of next year, we've unearthed some genuine talent in Creagh, Poore & Sims - who should serve us well over the next 5 years. Guys like Lance Thompson keep putting in, & hopefully will get that Premiership ring before he retires - he bl**dy deserves it!

Backs: our back-line is the envy of many clubs. The club has bought well (Best), developed well (Naiqama), & shuffled well when needed (Greenshields/Hornby). I think that Naiqama could turn into one of the most lethal wingers in the competition, & comparisons to Wendell Sailor are justified.

Front Office: love 'em or loathe 'em, Doust & his team have done a good job hanging on to a very talented (& expensive!) group of players, & haven't done so at the expense of developing juniors. It'd be a full-time juggling act, & a tough one at that.

Just remember - what doesn't kill you will only make you stronger!!!
Bring on 2006!

Definitely a lot of positives and mid season I always thought next year would be our best shot. I was actually very surprised we did this well following the loss of Head.

Brown definitely matured as a coach, with the only question marks on the defensive weakness Gasnier creates. I felt that should have been dealt with. Everyone knew it was our only defensive weakness yet Saturday night it was the worst in months.

P.S. I dont really blame Best, Gasnier is a terrible reader in defence and makes his decisions in an instant, leaving Best in no mans land more often than not. His poor read on Marshall with the first try was nothing short of woeful.

I think with the young players like Young Creagh Head Poore Sims etc we will really cut loose next year.... bring on the Charity Shield!

the best thing was the character to overcome the worst start since the 30's, head's injury & still be regarded as title favourites & make it so far.

i for one thought we were as good as f*cked after round 4.

Dont forget Ennis, he has improved so much this year compared to last year. He is still only 21 aswell. Can build a real solid game around him next year, as soon as he comes on he speeds things up and takes some pressure off the play makers.

Yep.

I still don't know where he came from after he put that bell-ringer of a hit on Mellor to deny us an after-the-siren try @ WIN a few weeks ago!...

it has been that kind of season Willow.
Every season has some kind of predictability about it, but 2005 was the craziest i have ever seen...and i have seen a few.

One positive you guys can take into next year is that you can watch Joey Johns and the Knights kick your collective asses into submission.

Suck eggs mongrals.

Another acute case of Envy...
