Having said all this...let's not forget 2015. We were flying after 9 rounds and wound up scraping into the 8.

I guess what I'm trying to say is go nuts while it lasts, ladies and gents! Great win, 5 of 6, all of them being strong, dominant wins through the forwards. OH WHEN THE SAINTS!!

I understand what you mean but those wins in 2015 were never stamped with the authority that these games have been.
2015 was a team that was playing on passion and grinding teams to the ground in low scoring contests (mostly) and we couldn't sustain that brand of footy cause it was all pure effort.
This year we are playing a much more sustainable and efficient brand of footy. There is definitely something different in the air and I like what I see.

Dragons win big over Sea Eagles
Sat 8th April, 05:00PM

The St George Illawarra Dragons have recorded their fourth-straight win following their 35-10 defeat of the Manly Sea Eagles at Lottoland on Saturday afternoon.

It didn't take long for the Dragons to make a dent on the scoreboard when skipper Gareth Widdop capitalised on Manly's failure to get to dummy-half by swooping up the free ball and scoring in the third minute.

Widdop's fourth try of the year saw him hit yet another milestone when he racked up his 600th career point.

Dragons centre Euan Aitken celebrated his return from a hamstring injury and his 50th NRL game when he crashed over the white stripe in the ninth minute.

Aitken made it a double when he powered his way past opposite centre Brian Kelly to score a long-range try in the 17th minute.

Manly winger Jorge Taufua's try two minutes from half-time proved the only lowlight in the first half as the Red V headed into the sheds up by 10 points.

Razzle dazzle from Dragons halfback Josh McCrone allowed for lock Jack de Belin to score the first try in the second stanza in the 46th minute, while a Widdop penalty goal five minutes later pushed the Dragons' advantage out to 18.

Widdop's 12-point haul saw him reach another feat thereafter, with him now the second-highest pointscorer in St George Illawarra history – overtaking Mark Riddell.

Kurt Mann scored his first try of the year for the Dragons in the 63rd minute, though Taufua responded with his second try five minutes later.

A Widdop field goal and his second try of the afternoon – to round out his 19-point haul – in the final two minutes capped off the 19-point win, the Dragons first at Lottoland since 2008.

St George Illawarra Dragons 35 (Euan Aitken 2, Gareth Widdop 2, Jack de Belin, Kurt Mann tries; Gareth Widdop 5 goals; Gareth Widdop field goal) defeated Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles 10 (Jorge Taufua 2 tries; Dylan Walker goal) at Lottoland. Crowd: 11,654. Half-time: Dragons 16-6.

That's an excellent point. We were winning by scoring 8 points and then defending that lead in 2015. We've got the No. 1 attack in the comp right now and the 2nd or 3rd best defence. Crazy. Should the NRL take a sample from these guys to test them? Haha

Great game by the team. The personnel changes have made an amazing difference, plus the transformation of Widdop into a game winning 5/8. Lafai got some early ball and showed good skill in creating something from nothing. JDB got rid of the top knot and has gone from strength to strength to be a real contender for SOO honours. McCrone has been improving and played great today. McInnes with his toothless grin is the new face of the Dragons and providing great dummy half service plus good kicks. Vaughan up front with the others in the pack are giving us more than an equal chance in every game and the team is playing attacking footy that is great to watch.
This might be the most enjoyable season in 5-6 years.

Mary's done a reverse Pricey....he's pulled all our pants down & is literally giving it to US.

Lets not be too accommodating.
The team is going well for Mary but l'd be happy to hold off contract upgrades till the end of season.
Let's keep everyone on their toes and focus on the job ahead.
Early days but good days ............. long may they continue!

GO THE MIGHTIES!!!

Just finished watching the game (slightly delayed) and loved it!

I described McCrone as McCrud after those horrendous kicking displays a few weeks back, but after last week and today it's nothing short of miraculous turn around in form.

He is showing good composure, playing way more into the line and getting good early ball out wide and the backs are loving it, and frankly, so am I!

I really hope he can sustain this form.

Best game i have seen Widdop play too. Classy and tough.

JDB was huge.

OH WHEN THE SAINTS BEGIN TO PLAY!

Bromwich and Blair have been ruled out of the Storm vs Sharks game. Gives Cronulla a better chance of winning which would put us FIRST!!!!

Great game today. My only doubt is Nene unfortunately. He hasn't shown good defence nor does he seem alle to do what he was much touted as being able to - namely catch the kicks put up for him. He seems more intent on tapping the ball back.
