Man, sex on a stick. I have never seen such a stunningly tight show. Rudess' keytar rocked. The last third of the show was the most intense prog out. As I am blewme right the f**k away.

man i thought the crowd were going the tear the place down before the encore. it was intense... awesome stuff.

and the keytar! i didn't see that one coming at all. rudess, myung and petrucci all jamming in the middle of the stage was quite an incredible sight.

i didn't wanna say this in my last post.. but after some serious reflecting on the night.. it's the best gig i've ever been to. everything from the setlist to the stage presence to the absolutely insane skill on display was just perfect. i would've paid triple for the tickets.

i wouldn't be, that really really sucks :(

my advice is do what all good teachers do and take out your frustration on your students. then put it on youtube.

Just got back from the Brisbane concert. If there is one draw back to living on the GC, it's the lengthy train ride back home.

Anyway here's the setlist is I recall
Constant Motion
Panic Attack
Surrounded (Extended solos - brilliant song)
The Dark Enternal night (Instant classic or what, loved the accompanying video)
I think next was Forsaken
I walk Beside you
As I Am (Love this one too, gotta sum up every DT fan doesn't it? Take me as I am!)

Intermission

Overture
Strange Deja Vu
Through My Words
Fatal Tragedy
Erotomania
Voices
Spirit Carries On
Pull me Under/Metropolis

Encore
Medley
-Trial of Tears (Amazing light show on this section)
- Finally Free
- Learning to Live
- In the Name God (This one rocked big time)
- Octavarium

Amazing show, loved everything they did.
First time I've been to the River stage and it really is a great Venue, being open air, it means it's not too hot, nor too loud.

One thing I'll admit to is being a little disappointed they didn't play In The Presence of Enemies. I'd have happily traded in PMU/Met for that one. Guess they'll have to release another live DVD with that song included. ;-)
All in all well worth it and I hope they make good on their promise to come back. Don't see why they wouldn't, decent turn outs for all concerts and reactions as well.

I would say this has been the best concert I've attended, but I've not really attended that many so not really a big statement. Lets see if Maiden can top it in about 10 days time.

WOW! your setlist is A LOT different to what they played in sydney. Your encore medley looks awesome!%*#(.. in fact i think you may have gotten a longer set.

i wish i could remember exactly what was played.. i would have had to write it down that night, i was pretty drunk :)

is there anyone around that went to the sydney gig that can remember our full setlist? lol. 1 thing i do know for sure is that we did get In The Presence of Enemies. I think we may have received your encore earlier in the night (if not it was another medley).. we got As I Am - Pull Me Under/Metropolis medley.. but it fit perfectly. actually the whole show was paced very well, and by the end they had us in a total frenzy.

Did anyone else feel that their new album sounds much better live than recorded? i wasn't much a fan of it until i heard them play it in front of me.

Yeah I'd agree the new album does sound better live, but I love Systematic Chaos though and think it's their best SFAM (IMHO of course ;-) ).

Spirit Carries on was another one so much better live as well.

Encore Medley was insane. Words can't do it justice TBH.

*#(.. in fact i think you may have gotten a longer set.
Not sure about that TBH.
I think the 1st set would have been about the same, your second set a bit longer. Encore is hard to know. I'd say the encore medley we got would have been 15-20 minutes in length. Sydney's Encore could have been about the same.
As I am (8 minutes approx)
PMU/Met 1 (12 minutes approx)

Found the Sydney setlist
Set #1:
(Intro Video / 2008: An Ant Odyssey)

CONSTANT MOTION
PANIC ATTACK
ENDLESS SACRIFICE
THE DARK ETERNAL NIGHT
KEYBOARD SOLO /
LINES IN THE SAND
FORSAKEN
TAKE THE TIME

Intermission

Set #2:
OVERTURE 1928
STRANGE DEJA VU
THROUGH MY WORDS
FATAL TRAGEDY
EROTOMANIA
VOICES
THE SPIRIT CARRIES ON
IN THE PRESENCE OF ENEMIES

Encore:
AS I AM
PULL ME UNDER / METROPOLIS
(train wreck on the re-entry of Metropolis after the blackout, requiring 2 restarts

A lot of differences between the two shows. Especially the 1st set and encore.
Gotta love how every city got their own set list.

God I hope they release another live album and DVD of this tour. Even if it's released via Ytsejam records. Take the different songs from the concerts and cut the stuff we've got a thousand times over.

Track list could look something like this:
Constant Motion
Panic Attack
Surrounded (2007/2008) - Very unique with the extended instrumental section
TDEN
Forsaken
ITPOE
Ministry of lost souls (Played in other countries)
Encore Medley
+ anything else we don't have already that's being played on this tour.

Found this post which might clear some things up
http://www.mikeportnoy.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=1939325&mpage=3

That was a great night. Although I'd sort of been a little DT'ed out after 5 shows in 7 days, the atmosphere at Brisbane was the best of the lot because of the sound and venue. Pity it wasn't as long as Syd or Melb.

For the record, and I don't think it's been mentioned anywhere else but Syd and Melb got 3 hours, while Adel, Bris got about 2 hours 20 min. Perth would have been about 2 hours 20 min if it went the distance.

I'm not complaining about the length though given that I never thought I'd actually never see them live. Maybe next time, if they do come down under We'll get the "Evening with" Format again.

I thought the show was bloody brilliant. Definately one of the better shows I've seen.

The Scenes... stuff was the highlight for me, and the crowd from the reaction. But I have been digging the Systematic Chaos album and so I enjoyed the songs from that. In fact the only time during the night I thought it might have been dragging on a bit was in 'In the Presense of Enemies', but it was such a good show. Sound was great, and they were faultless I thought.

I can't wait for Maiden now!!!
