..well....,if they focus on their completion rates by minimising the errors and giving their ‘D’ the respect that it deserves; they could then go back to training and adjust errors of their game that they are aware of, so they can ask more questions of the opposition.........

Just not sure how Billy Smith may respond..!

The last line of defence is a weak link within the Dragons team. If Dufty moved to six, we do not lose is fantastic attacking skills but instead, have a better chance of mitigating his poor defensive skills.

The other obvious benefit is the absence of Norman from our 17. He needs to go asap. Just another poor decision by Millward. The decision to sign him might have been born out of desperation and a belief that we could turn him around. However, to sign him long term smacks with the same logic Millward used in extending Lafai and Aitken long term. Not only is Norman soaking up a significant amount of our salary cap, but his performance on the field has also been in negative territory for far too long.

Dufty at 6, it's a solid pass from me.

Soward was protected. I'm in favor of Dufty to 6, the problem is that we need to off-load Norman.

Ramsey and Schiller can fight it our for the fullback spot and then the loser goes to the left-wing. So with Feagai going to left centre we could have a backline full of youn talent and speed:
1. Schiller
2. Ramsey
3. Lomax
4. Feagai
5. Ravalawa
6. Dufty
7. Clune

Six out of seven backs are local juniors. Now all we need is a good coach to bring them through and train them up.

Aitken, Lafai, Saab. and Norman will be all gone prior to the 2021 season.

I predict Dufty to cause even more havoc as a running five-eighth and a great passing game. In his junior days, he played five-eighth. So it won't take long for Dufty to get back his kicking game.

Whoever is selected to be our left edge forward (T Sims, Host, Ford) should run protection for Dufty in Defence, in the same way Thompson did for Soward under Bennett.

Excellent post. I agree but I'd wait till the new coach is appointed and consider it for 2021. Too late for 2020. Remember it was Hornby who orchestrated his positional change from the halves to fullback. This year Dufty's passing game has really come into his own. Where has that been? But he'll need a protector in defense like Soward had. Gives us another option for fullback.

I think the Club has shown its hand as far as our halves will be moving forward.
Norman wont be moved on unless an NRL club makes an offer (not ESL), which is extremely unlikely.
Hunt has 2yrs plus an option, however, his continued voicing about his preferred position is 7, could be a clue about his future.

Clune is doing well at 7, and then we have Sullivan, Amone and even Wishart, who are specialists in the halves.
I get the idea of Dufty as a 6, however, would he even sacrifice himself for a year in CC to prove he could be? I highly doubt it.
The fact also is shown in keeping Clune at 7 and now Sullivans name appearing more on the team list sheet.

This is the realiry for Dufty, unfortunately, and with some skillful young fullbacks coming through, hes under enough pressure already, dont need to add 5/8 to that pressure.

Lockyer made the move but could kick and organise.
Ditto Hornby who made the move to halfback.

It took one of the best players in modern times in Lockyer to become a very good 5/8 so i can't see how Dufty could. So it's a no for me.

Dufty is too small to play 5/8 and do everything a 5/8 should do plus make about 20 tackles a game.He needs to put a stone of weight on and 83kg’s is too small. No thank you, I’m just starting to enjoy him at fb and that took a while.

Agree blacksafake and it certainly wasn't immediate; it took Lockyer (with all his skills) some time to adjust to the move.

Oh possm, round and round you go. Doesn’t matter what coach comes in, Hunt and Norman won’t be moving anywhere unless someone a: is interested and b: we pay probably 50% of the remaining contract.
No one in the nrl will be stupid enough to buy Norman except us and he has already shown his hand by rubbishing a move to ESL. I think we’re stuck with slim shady and before you bang on about dropping him to reserve grade blah blah blah we still need to pay him and even then if he wants out SOME OTHER TEAM needs to take him. Not as simple as you make it my friend

He has all the natural ability and speed to ignite attacking raids and his passing is 1st class and would benefit all our backs including a new FB and also our running back rowers.

Defence and fatigue are issues but are they insurmountable it is impossible to know as much would depend who he is matched with re a middle and a back rower.

Luke Keary (179cm & 85 kgs) is also very slight and was not very good defensively to begin with but he has matured and grown in confidence and is one of the best 5/8's in the country if not the world.

Will our club ever bother to find out about Dufty probably not and they would rather hobby-horse along trying to beat into the wind with Norman rather than setting a spinakker and running before the wind with somebody like Dufty.

If it was me and looking at what we have in the rack for the FB position I would at least try Dufty at 5/8 to see what we he's got in attack and worry about the defence if we have to.

Going by Young on 360, when questioned about Hunt's position going forward, he said that 9 is his position going forward or a running 5/8. Which doesn't sound good for Norman if JDB has a productive outcome.

I agree with all points however as good as keary is he is a head knock from retirement. This is because he is undersized and playing in the front line.
