I've got a poser for you Rich- why does "real" boxer Joseph Parker feel the need to fight the same bloke fraud/fake/phony SBW won 8 straight rounds against?

Who Parker chooses to fight is his business and I guess a paid fight is a paid fight. Why Botha is the guy to fight I don't know, don't follow boxing too much these days.
Didn't see the SBW fight so can't really comment on how many rounds he won.
The strange part for me is the uncertainty over how many rounds the fight was over.

I also hate sports administrators who pay the money this bloke asks for.

Meanwhile thousands of local sports clubs across Aus/NZ struggle for money to survive, year after year.

If you run a local club for a year or two you'll quickly see how unjust it all is.

Money, media attention and opponent availability.
Regardless of whether he should be, Botha is a boxer in the spotlight in this part of the world, therefore Parker would be stupid not to fight him.
Also, it's a good chance to proclaim himself the best young boxer in NZ - by beating Botha in convincing style... something sbw failed to do.
I'd much rather see Parker vs sbw, personally.

yea, its SBW's fault...
He's bankrupting all forms of sport.

anyways...

As Sonny Bill Williams stopped to pose for a yet another photo with a well-wisher on the main street of Lakemba, a passer-by tried to intervene.
"Leave him alone," the man yelled. It was unclear whether he mistakenly thought Williams needed saving from hostile Canterbury supporters or that the request by people wanting to have their photo taken with the Sydney Roosters superstar was too overwhelming.
But that brief incident was the only time in the two hours Williams spent in the heart of Bulldogs territory on Tuesday night that anyone even raised their voice in his vicinity.
Despite all the talk about how much Williams is hated by Canterbury supporters before his first match against the Bulldogs since walking out on the club in 2008, there seemed to be only love for him on the streets of Lakemba.
As Williams walked Haldon Street to the Chicken Licken cafe near Lakemba train station and then on to Al Andalos Cafe, he was constantly stopped by people wanting to wish him well on the field or get a photo with the dual international.
Some were Bulldogs supporters who said they were happy to see him back in the NRL after five years of playing rugby union.
Out the back of Al Andalos Cafe, where men were smoking hookah pipes and drinking tea, they lined up to get their photo taken with Williams.
"OK, $5 a photo," someone joked as people took turns sitting next to Williams on a lounge to pose for their photos.
At one stage, Williams even had a baby plonked on his knee. "They love him here," said Ahmad Ellaz, who plays for Newtown and was a member of last year's NSW Cup premiership-winning team.
Ellaz works at Chicken Licken, which is owned by his father, and has met Williams a few times.
"He is a superstar, he has got that vibe that makes you feel good," Ellaz said. "Everyone wants to talk to him, say hello and have a photo. Who wouldn't? He is a pretty high-profile sort of guy and he is really well known around this area. He is a humble man and he is well liked."

Maybe not but it sure puts things in perspective.

I dearly hope this Williams fellow hasn't forgotten where he came from and all the hard working volunteers who helped him get where he is now.

He obviously has to be in the Kiwis XVII. For me its a bit of a case of once bitten twice shy, but I'm hopeful now that he's learned some lessons and will see out his contracts, and concentrate on what he's extremely good at - playing footy. I wonder if his plan is to try to get a WC win with the Kiwis, and get back to union in time for the RU WC for an attempt to get back into the All Blacks?

I heard Steve Hansen on TV during the week saying he expected $BW back for the AB's before the next RWC.

He played well last night, but had to crack up listening to the commentary, you could tell he is on the Ch 9 payroll. Was being talked up as 1 of the best individual efforts of all time  A good pass to set up a try, a nice strong run through a halve for a try and a try 90% of NRL would have scored from 10 out and pretty much nobody to beat. Outside of that ran the ball 4 times.

For me he wasn't even the best kiwi on the park, JWH was outstanding, best game I have ever seen from him
