Dumbest play ever on a footy field

Didn't Hayne bomb a certain try going himself and then Wade decided to grub it up?

Or am I misremembering?
That was the one. Hayne had a clear overlap on Morris late in the 1st half that would've taken it to 14-0, possibly 16-0 if the conversion was slotted. NSW were all over Qld and it looked like turning into a massacre. Going more than 2 converted tries ahead would (mentally) have broken Qld. But Hayne had to make it all about him rather than go for an easy team try and botched it.

Second half NSW started trying to defend a 10 point lead from about the 50th minute onwards. Then (with about 10 minutes to go) Wade Graham tackles Gagai with Qld running out of their own half. Just needed a simple tackle, wrap up the man with the ball, wait for Qld to get to tackle 5 and the kick then regather possession and aim to score the knock out try or regather possession through a goal-line drop-out and run down the clock. But Graham savaged Gagai in the tackle and Gagai drops it. If Gagai was playing for the Knights it would've (correctly) been called a knock-on, stiff shit Dane, penalty against the Knights because who cares about Newcastle they're shit?

But this is Qld, they're 4 points behind and if they win it from here they can force a Decider (TM) at Suncorp, the Home Of Origin (TM). So of course- it's ruled a strip on Gagai. Qld go up field from the next set of 6 and score in the corner. JT (hobbling about with a busted shoulder yet untouched by the NSW attack all second half) kicks the conversion to put Qld in front by 2 and win the game. Never seen a side hobble over the line like that. Joey was rightfully filthy at f/t.

Game 3 and Qld put in a more polished performance, with Sharon Woods proving once and for all what a pea-heart he is and Wade Graham doing the exact same high intensity tackle he did on Gagai in Game 2, just after NSW had scored and ripping the momentum away again.

Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb. Felt more like NSW lost that series than Qld won it.

People can say what they like about Freddy, but never seen a NSW side play dumb like that/ lack heart like that since he took over. The difference in attitude was notably different the following series right off the bat. Wade Graham (who I never wanted to see in sky blue again) even ended up redeeming himself in Game 2 2019 when he was recalled by Freddy and tore up in Perth. I'd go so far as to say that if Freddy had coached that 2017 series, NSW either sweep the series 3-0 or go down in a tight one in Game 3.

Back

at it again on Sunday with dumb penalty that cost the tigers the match. The NQLD one was harsh, Sunday’s was stupid but at least he was having a go. Footy brains are rare in the Tigers outfit. Even the Douehi mistake from dummy half that compounded Pauga’s kerfuffle and led to saints try just showed extreme dopiness. All he had to do was slow the play down and carry the ball, get the tigers to the last and make saints go 100m, instead he goes for the low percentage flash pickup and stuffs it. There are some in the tigers side that have a bit of skill and can make things happen but they have no appreciation of the right context to deploy their skills and it just leads to shit footy. There’s a time and a place for it but the tigers players can’t pick it

Don't entertain Somecockwomble2 mate. He's a Tigers fan, he just acts like an Eels fan just to be a troll.

A few posts already and no fkn mention of Justin Hodges origin debut. Not once but twice passing inside his own goal line.

Also f**king Billy Slater dropping the world cup (passing the ball to Kiwi player to score winning try) f**k me I've hated him since
You have no idea. That happened in 60th min .You forgot to mention Joel Monahan penalty try at 70 min

Are people conflating skill errors with judgement errors in this thread?

Surely deliberately touching a ball that hasn't travelled 10m from the kick off is not the same as missing a goal from front on (unless people are stating that was done "on purpose")

I was going to mention that useless f**king moron Graham for the dumbest penalty of all time to piggyback the banjo strummers upfield. Absolute peanut.
TBF, if Gagai was playing his regular weekend match for Newcastle he would've been penalised for a knock-on.

But because it was Qld and there was the chance of forcing a decider, they penalised Graham instead for a strip to help the Maroons out.

Regardless, it was a tackle that was pointless in its' aggression and Graham shouldn't have allowed even a hint of a strip to happen. What really made it worse was he tried the EXACT SAME F**KING TACKLE in Game 3 literally the set after NSW had scored, completely killing any chance at gaining momentum.

I don't have anything nice to say about Sharon Woods' "efforts" in that game so I won't say anything more...

Man, hopefully someone else remembers this but many years ago when watching the weekends recaps on the Sunday footy show a Sharks player went for a field goal when his team was down by a considerable amount of points.

They asked him in the post match why he took a shot for a field goal while being considerably behind and he said he didn't think they'd get the ball back otherwise, lol.

From memory it was 11 vs 13 men.

Given the context it wasn't as silly as it sounds.
