hehehe... i love some of the overreactions to what was a mere suggestion if he keeps up his current form.
Now, I know that players very rarely get picked on form, but some of the others that would have been in front of Dykes last year (i.e. everyone) have not gone amazingly well so far this year (eg. Gower, Sherwin). I think the move of Dykes to half-back has been a bit of a revelation this year and he seems to revel in the role. And what makes his performances this year (including trials) more impressive is that he has had to do it in a team with 2 locks and no 5/8th which could only put more pressure on him.
As for not wanting our players in the rep games, I used to agree that there was too much risk for too little reward. However, I think it would be good for Dykes to play a couple of games with some of the game's best. He's a pretty shrewd character and I think he could learn a couple of tricks and maybe bring back some tips for the Eels.
In all seriousness though, I expect either Kimmorley, Gower or Orford to be the Australian half-back for the Anzac Day test.
