I'll take your word for it, but a few years back there were reports that John Dykes was rather upset the club wouldn't appoint him to the lower grades coaching staff. The latest news feeds we're getting make this topic more or less irrelevant though.

A lot was made of that which wasn't true. Scrum was pissed at missing a job but is a bigger man than most of the people at the Sharks. He'll always be a staunch Sharks fan and bears no grudges. He also did a fair bit of negotiating on behalf of the club with Brian Smith to get Adam back in the first place.

Yes, it is irrelevant in the scheme of things.

This is a pity, the bloke's got talent at least. Consistency's another thing though.

I tell you If we didn't have covell in the team I'd be worried.

Any tips from the old hands?

Once upon a time you were a cluey person Inferno. Now I believe you to be a clueless dumbass.
If you think Clovell is the savour I seriously think you are dillusional and out of this world. What is it with the posters here, Clovell is this and Clovell is that...nuh Clovell is a brainless slug and if he can actually run faster than a snail.........WOW.

In today's Tele Adam says there is no bad blood between him and Noddy, and that they and their familes are friends. Seems the reason for his departure is the make up of his contract. Parra's subsidy runs out and it seems Cronulla will have difficulties regarding the salary cap should they honour the deal.
It seems Dykes, by his actions. is an honourable man.
It also seems that situations like this bring out the rumour mongers.......and the white ants.

But surely, the bean counters at Sharks would have known we might have had salary cap issues with Dykes once Parra's subsidy ran out.

Wy did they sign him for 3 years in that case????

This appears silly, though I am not Dykes' biggest fan. i don't believe this would have anything to do with sallary cap. If we go with only one half next year, who will play half if noddy gets injured. Is Aitken definately gone? Surely now he'll want to stay? Or maybe not if he is sick being treated poorly.

C'mon Popper, surely you don't believe that.

And if it is true then the management at the club is even more incompetent than we thought.

They know what every contract they have is worth. They know the terms. They can calculate the wages bill for every year when they put together the contract. THis is just a BS excuse.

There was talk when he was signed that people in the club didn't want him back but Raper pushed for it. Looks to me like those people won out in the end and they are making up stories left right and centre to cover themselves, again.

When Dykes was signed the cap issue would have been ok.

After a bidding war for Ross, signing albert, paying way to much for mapp, a few contract upgrades, and now securing moke, maybe it isn't.

Maybe this was the problem for peach as well.

No disrespect to accountants, but i have found them to be usefull only after the event, never before it. They are much better at analysing stuff than predicting it.

Guess farging what hunter. This is a forum in case you didn't know and I can say what i farging well like and in my opinion Covell is not a young star, he is an ordinary player who can kick goals sometimes, who is a slow moving slug playing on the wing, so what does that tell you. A winger with no speed says to me he's in the team for his kicking not on his ability to play footy.

You have the right to reply as this is a forum.

Salary cap issues huh?

Like Ben Ross at the Panthers?

You can try and find logic in that any way you want but there is none in reality. If a player has a signed contract he can't be forced to move on because the money men f**ked up.

Not legal people :)

How many players have Penrith signed since Ross left? 3 or 4? With supposed salary cap issues?

Will the Sharks sign more players now? Highly likely.

Haven't the Sharks heard of structured payments? I think they have.

There is no salary cap f**kup in regards to this matter at all. There may be a minor problem due to second tier players but that can't affect a contract. That's simply the spin the club is putting out there to avoid more backlash from the cutting of Dykes from the squad.

The most accurate explanation is a simple one word answer - Shafted.

So what your saying is that it's the club that is solely to blame? Raper, Rogers, Pierce etc.?

Any news on which club will pick up Dykesy?

BTW you say that there are signings on the horizon... Care to elaborate (PM if you don't want the info public ;-) )?
