Ben Pomeroy was meant to be out in the mid season for 3 weeks...he then was out for the season for an injury that will re-occur over his career. Its a groin injury and is very hard to shake off. I don't think you'll get your $200,000 worth out of him.

The same could have been said about Paul Franze but he did pretty well this year.

well actually no.

Paul Franze had a knee injury of which was operable. He had the operation and it fixed his knee and just needed time to recover.

The injury Ben has, doesn't have a cure. Its a natural injury that needs natural healing. As of Round 14 onwards...it didn't happen until the end of the year of which normally would only take 3-4 weeks. Its an injury that tends to reoccur over the players career as well. So its entirely different to Paul Franze with regards to the fact that it was a different injury and one was operable and the other wasn't.

Your delusional!

I'm a Penrith fan and absolutely think Ross is magnificent.

But that was last years NSW team.

If you think Ross would make the NSW team with Ryles, Bailey, O'Meley, Mason, Simpson ahead of him...no way he'd make it.

AND Paul Stringer..the dark horse for the Kangaroo Tri Nations tour....

Sorry - and Vagana 5/8 for Sharks...He is excelling there, and is why I'd say Dykes wants to go, as Raper prefers Vagana.

Oh good, the telegraph printed it. At least we can count on it being reputable reliable information.

Manly are the council tip scroungers of the NRL. It seems as though their mentality is to recreate Parramatta's premier league side on 2004, throw in some salary cap chewers , and hope for the best. Every player on the market is sought after by Manly - they even release players and then move heaven and earth to resign them (Monaghan). I'm sure that CEO Yul Brinner just looks up the "off contract" list, and makes an automatic offer.

Manly's chequebook days are back. Once they bought quality - now they buy anything!:lol::lol:

Salary cap restraints? Have the Sharks upgraded Kimmorley's contract to compensate his bumper year? I was under the impression you had 2, maybe 3 marquee level players left and a bunch of nufties picked up a bargain basement.

geez, loyalty is alive and well throughout the players and clubs in the NRL isn't it.
Dykes doesn't want Parra or Sharks;
Manly don't want Monaghan;
Souths will take anyone but no one wants them;
Roosters don't like there 1/2 but don't know wether they'll release him.

Good to see clubs stick togethor strong when the chips are down.

We were only able to pay for Dykes this year as Parramatta was paying half of it, as part of the release clause...

The club then payed too much for player upgrades, as well as signings Ross, Albert, Pomeroy, Mapp, Moke etc. and now we are in this postion...

Hopeless.

However, there are rumours circulating that the club is looking to free up money for the return of Mat Rogers... but I doubt it... And even if it was, why would they release players of the calibre of Dykes, and not nuffies like Simmons, Covell, Bird etc.
