The Eels are in a shit atm so I'm okay with it for now. If it was the Storm, Broncos, Roosters, Panthers etc. Different story.

Yeah I get that, just seems the Warriors come out of this with nothing but a loss.

Clubs done the right thing for the player, fair do - and the player (Walker) always performed well for us.
I get that there's a level of mutual respect for and from both parties.
But the short version is, we've lost who I'd consider a key player for us (certainly in terms of impact), Eels get a gain. What's in it for the Warriors here? It's not like theres anyone readily available of that quality waiting to sign a deal with an NRL club

I read a report which was saying that Walker would be available to play for Para this weekend? But he was named in the Warriors 17. That would be completely incorrect isn't it. You can't bring a player that isn't named on the Tuesday?

I have to be careful what I say here.

Dylan wanted to play out the full season, this is the best contract he has had and he likes the Warriors. From Dylans pov he planned on playing this weekend and finishing his contract.

All I can say carefully is that this week circumstances outside his and the Clubs control arose - Dylan on Tuesday night asked the club for sick leave to sort family stuff, the club circled the Wagons around Dylan and went all out to get him back to his kids.

The Warriors could have as you say played hard ball, but what has happened has nothing to do with money ball, the club have acted purely to get the player home with the best circumstance for the player and his children.

Yea that’s true but I’m glad we did the right thing even if we did lose out in a football sense. We were on the other side of a similar situation with Penrith so I’d consider it just a squaring of the ledger.

The Warriors have been going out of their way to be seen to be accommodating of players.

The reasons are obvious, we are a team in an NRL market place that is the least desirable to sign with for geographical reasons.

That is a huge hinderance tot he Warriors.

Clearly the only way to over come that is to build a reputation for being a club that will get you back to Australia ASAP should your long distance offshore job all of a sudden become far far away from family, loved ones, and emergencies like illness.

At the same time the Warriors are cognisant of not being seen as push overs, which is why they forced AFB to finish his contract even though he wanted an immediate release.

In other words the Warriors act on a case by case basis like any professional company.

Here is the thing about being accommodating and allowing quick returns to Aus., it makes paying overs less of an issue if we can argue we are merely a three hour flight Australasian city eh.

The only way we reinvent our brand as part of Aussie with a quick flight is if we demonstrate it by naming a guy Tuesday and releasing them Wednesday to play the weekend in Aus.

Think about it....the Warriors no longer being an over paying....less attractive outpost vs a new image of instant returns to Aus.....

Always a risk when player's are overseas - just need to go case-by-case, sounds like they did the right thing here - I guess we should remember that while we've lost a few that way, we also gained JFH when Penrith acted with similar respect...

Hard one, Walker answers a lot of questions for most teams he's in, and was pretty good for us - impact from the bench is important...

Rumour 2 weeks ago which I think was started by James Maloney on his podcast. This supposedly happened last season, his wife left him and took the kids back to Sydney. I'm pretty sure he was keen to see out the year in Auckland, but something has obviously changed.

He was good for Parramatta yesterday.

I have to point out this isn't quite true, Maloney said there was a rumour of a player who'd been shagging around with a staff member's partner/wife, he didn't name names. Someone has obviously picked up that rumour and run with it being Dylan, given there's a fair knowledge his kids and ex (ex/or current whatever) partner is now in Sydney.

Not saying it's not true, but Maloney didn't name Walker.

Didn't see the game myself, but this doesn't surprise me.
We'll miss his impact. Seemed to be a part of the heart of the club as well.

He and Tevaga kinda reminded me a bit of T Puletua and Gulavao in their 'hair bears' days, except no hair. Seemed to spark life into the club. Now both are gone (Although, I do think Clarke has been an upgrade on Tevaga)

either way, pretty off by Maloney to be even starting those rumours. Youd think being an ex player he'd not feed into the clickbait type shit.

I listen to those podcasts, for me the segment is more a pisstake of Buzz and co, think they call it rumour or tumour, and he spins wild stories each week. There is absolutely nothing said that could even remotely make you think of a player or club

Is certainly a very different podcast that can be hit and miss, he and lattimore go very hard at each other
