Dear Nick,
Please do whatever it takes to fix up my Rabbitohs. This club needs to be bigger than any one person or bunch of people. You need to do what you think is right, for us, the fans, and for the players, not what is right for the suits upstairs.
Nick, I have full faith in your capabilites to turn this place around. You know what needs to be done more than anyone else. I've been hurting for many years and its time for it to stop. I long for the day when there is a professional in every position at south sydney.
My club and your club is dying of cancer. The only way to cure cancer is to totally cut it out. If you only half remove it, then it reforms and the problem still exists.
I believe there are many very good men out there that would love to represent south sydney. I know I would love to one day.
Opposed to this, there are those 'comfortable' people that have lost the professional attitude and represent themself, not the club. It is up to you to spot the difference. Losing becomes engrained and accepted over time. But this isn't the U/7 2's here, we are talking about NRL. Some of the comments made in past years that praise loss astound me. Why be in high praise that we 'almost won' a game Something is seriously wrong there.
Advertise positions that are up for new employment, as the 'jobs for the boys' culture has been killing us. Find a way to remove the cancer Nick, as early detection could save our club from a 'second death'. Surely when we were kicked out the first time, that sent the alarm bells off saying that half measures do not work. Yet we now see a 'compromised' board with over 50% of the members on it engrained in a losing culture as i mentioned above. Is that really progress? Let the people vote YOUR BOARD in so we can start moving forward and leave the white any past behind. We won't let you down at the polling booth. You are our leader and your decisions will be followed. Since you have took over, we have been in the paper i reckon around 70% less for bad reasons. Thats testimony to your leadership. Well done. But let the people vote to finish the movement out of the old and in with the new. There are many more pissed off fans this year compared to last year. And they want blood. Everyone would vote for a 'better board' and that is your board.
Of course, this is just one opinion from one fan. But I am a fan with a voice. And its time that the fans started to be heard.
Lastly, have you ever considered talking to the fans. Walking around the ground at a home game. Seeking to find out what the average souths punter thinks? Might be worth trying.
So anyway, until home game 1 next year....
Regards

Thanks for your e-mail. Amidst all the changes we are trying to bring in gradually, I am also taking the time (as best as I can) to listen to the wonderful supporters of this great Club of ours. While the opinions vary widely, they are often helpful, and they do permit us the opportunity to assess just how far (and fast) we can go with the changes we would like to introduce over the next 1-2 years.
But nothing can happen as quickly as we'd all like it to. I know that there was great expectation of improvement after we joined the Board in April, but the reality is that there was very little any of us could do to influence the course of events mid-season, especially when all commitments had already been made. But next year will be different, as I believe that we have at last started to lay down the foundation of the Club's revival in establishing a better relationship with the Juniors, a stronger connection to the business community and a more astute recruitment programme.
Thanks again for getting in touch and here's to a far better 2004!
Rgds,
Nicholas Pappas
I have to admit the e-mail gave me some hope. So I replied in brief to Nick.
Your a good man Mr Pappas. There should be more like you. Take us to glory mate.
And that was my Souths experience for the day. A glimmer of hope on the horizon.
