Yeah same, Padang food is my favourite cuisine in Indonesia. When I lived in Jakarta used to eat this street food very similar to beef rendang but with chicken and rice. Super spicy and about 2-3 dollars a hit. Used to quite enjoy downing it with an icy cold Heineken.
When I 1st went to work the original Malaya restaurant was located up towards Central railway.
They had a range of Malaysian curries & Indonesian Sambal dishes and a great friend of my brothers used to say if your glasses aren’t fogging up while you’re eating it then don’t bother ordering it. Unfortunately Fosters was the beer of choice for most restaurants but a quick Reschs at the Southern Cross would wash that shit beer down before getting on the red rattler to Riverwood.

Silver bullets are good, I don’t usually drink Heineken but after a while Bintang starts to taste a bit average. All they sold where I was, was Heineken, Bintang, Anker and Guinness so you can guess which two I gravitated towards.
