Maroubra Eel said:Hey is #93 Mick Crocker the same Mick Crocker at the Storm now?
eelavation said:funnily enough i think it's his grand father.
he's a very important person at the club as he was effectively our first international to represent our club.
eelavation said:I'm sure the fans can focus on both...plus if you a 3 minute footage of the player's highlights on the big screen prior to the game I'm sure it would actually inspire the crowd and get pumped before our current stars go out to battle instead of having that over used over aged Jon English song which hasn't even been re worked..it's tired, old and should go or atleast be re-worked to suit todays sounds.. ala the latest version of Glory Glory to South Sydney.
Mark we're only talking about Banners..Souths have them up against the back of the seating bowl, there would be plenty of room to have them.
MarkInTheStands said:But to be Honest I don't see the need to publicly Honor a former Great every week. They don't want the accolade
MarkInTheStands said:How Did I know you were talking about souths. Again Tell me where you would put the Banners that would make it meaningful. Unlike souths we don't have 40 Aisles to put one behind each?
Again, it is something to look at, But I think there is a better more public way like the bulldogs of doing it.
But to be Honest I don't see the need to publicly Honor a former Great every week. They don't want the accolade so why would they want to participate in something contrived. I know why souths do it as a response to criticism that the history of the club has been sold, to quote Larry A "For 30 Pieces of Silver"
Also you surely have noticed the very English nature of our crowd. as In they all turn up just before First grade Starts.
As for Chaining Parra Power to win. I have already suggested that EGJ and either 3DG or Shinobi would be the best candidate to "Re-Record" Either Parra Power to win, or even more traditionally Click Go the Eels.
No, and it is why I say I am disapointed about this issue, after all is said and done, more is said than ever done. It's raised year in and year out but always just goes around in circles, whoever said nothing is impossible never tried slamming a revolving door. :roll:eelavation said:is it such a big deal to embrace our history and past greats? heaven forbid we hardly do anything else..
Suitman said:So you know that for a fact do you? How many of them have you asked?

eelavation said:well Mark, I beg to differ..the banners don't even have to be the size of South Sydney's, is it such a big deal to embrace our history and past greats? heaven forbid we hardly do anything else..
Other clubs make it habit to make their home games an event and celebration more than just a home game, maybe it's the reason why our crowds have some what dwindled depending on where we're at on the table.
maybe we turn up just before FG because our marketing department don't bother promoting our games as well as other clubs do..
I'm glad you agree with me regarding the song.
Suitman said:Seriously MITS, I thoughts these were the sorts of ideas you wanted the club to embrace - hence your report you are preparing?
I'm confused at your opposition to such suggestions.

MarkInTheStands said:What I would like the club to embrace first and foremost is its fans, and allow them to interact and be "respected" more than they currently are by the players. After we get back to some sort of normal level like other clubs, with Effective members clubs and offers, proper events, and a highly improved website can we start to think about doing things on game day.
If you and Eela want a compose a report of what should happen on game day, please be my guest.
MarkInTheStands said:I could ask you or Eela the same question, Have you asked them, are the really waring with Fitzy. So on and So forth.
I have heard from Several Members of the club, that they would rather the focus be on the Current Crop of Stars, and that is what I am basing it on.
MarkInTheStands said:Yes our home game atmosphere is garbage. We all know that, I don't think it is the marketing of the game, or the activities on the field, or around the field.
If it is not a big deal to embrace our past, they why make a song and dance about it. You see it is a Big deal. I think your suggested motives are wrong, for the lack of recognition. I just think that you could look more at your third point then anything else.

eelavation said:we we wouldn't know how we'd embrace, over the years we've had 1 Golden oldies touch footy game a year, which doesn't happen any more and a players reunion which involves a luncheon, an announcement of a former great to our hall of fame honour list and the recognition of any current player who has reached a milestone in the past year.
the above does not involve the general public, except for a report on the clubs website.
eelavation said:actually...I kinda did bring it up with a board member during a general chat and tbh I didn't think he was too fussed with the idea.
