I think BA can coach - but things keep happening week after week that don't seem to get addressed so it makes you wonder what they do during the week. I agree he needs some more 'in tune' assistant coaches. The ones we have all seem very old school. Jason Taylor would have been perfect actually.

BA is a great coach when we are winning.

The days after a loss however, the usual suspects are yanking back the shower curtain.

How is he a "great coach" Gronk ? He did an unbelievable job last year when all the crap was happening. Credit to him. But a coach can only be judged on results and performances in sport - it is cruel I know, but that is how it works. And his results are probably slightly above average.

He may be a good coach, I really don't know but the coaching staff at this club do not seem to address some pretty basic issues. Examples - Normie getting tackled on 5th tackle constantly, this has been going on for weeks. Are they trying to fix this - or is Normie just totally stupid and won't take it on board?

Or - teaching players in support of a players who has made a break to keep well behind the runner to allow them to pass, maybe step or shrug off a defender. Several occasions this year our support players are almost in line with the ball runner - like Gutho yesterday. Semi has done it several times too. It is seriously basic schoolboy football skills. Watch Under 12's play - they know what to do !

If he doesn't make the 8 this year he has failed. If i happens again in 2018 he will be an assistant coach again. This is a results driven business. Even the great Wayne Bennett and Jack Gibson who won premierships were tapped on the shoulder at different stages of their careers. Brad Arthur hasn't even made the finals and anyone who questions him is immediately attacked.

We have been patient for over 30 years. Forgive me for asking a f**king question in his ability to take this side to a finals series .

Very few people on Earth turn on their own as quickly or as mindlessly as Eels fans...

You'd be surprised, it appears to be a general human behaviour in this day and age for people to turn on those who lose...Just look at politics when someone loses an election or has a drop in the polls...everyone is baying for blood and wants change...it's the era never settling for anything but winning me thinks.

Pretty close to the mark IMO.

I think it's more an era of impatience. Don't get me wrong, I understand why Parra fans are frustrated. But we were back to back wooden spooners three seasons ago and our rebuild from that was shattered by losing two high quality spine players thanks to the board being a pack of cheats.

BA understands what we need. He has prioritised the signings of Foran and now Moses to address our issues in the halves and he has chased and is chasing any NRL quality hooker on the market. He bulked up our forward pack for this season to the point where we are probably one player short of a very good forward rotation, and then he's gone out and bought a big body in Evans to fill that gap. But because he's had the misfortune to coach during probably the worst period in our history some fans refuse to give him his dues....he's a very good coach and could potentially be one of the best in the NRL. But success does not come instantly. Wayne Bennett failed at the Knights, in large due to chasing a quick fix. Look how that turned out. Even Jack Gibson wouldn't be winning a comp in this situation.

Let's not forget if rumours are correct, we haven't spend all our 2017 with a good amount still available. Which is a disadvantage for BA trying to compete with other sides !!

And he could have easily blown the available amount for some short term success during the off season but choose long term success instead.

We would've played finals last year if we weren't caught spending as much as the clubs with all the TPAs. Our recruiting suffered for this year because the salary cap fallout was drawn out.
So Arthur's coaching achievements would have been exaggerated seeing we played with an illegal squad.

You don't really know that. But - I am not going to slash my wrists after one performance. However, when all is said and done, our club is most certainly the least successful in NRL history - and probably only slightly better than the Demons and Saints in AFL.

70 years of competition and we won all our premierships in a 5 year 'golden period'. Apart from that 5 year period we have had 65 years of failing to win a premiership. Who can top that? The Bears before they were booted are the only team that come close. Imagine for a second if Sterling and Kenny had never joined our club !!! Scary thought.

Anyway, it just annoys me when everyone want to throw up excuses or reasons as Pou calls them. But clubs like the Bulldogs, Roosters, Panthers are never down for too long. One bad season max for those guys. We should be the same.

Not being a little impatient ? The new admin and coach have had clear air for how long ?
