He is in his 4th year, time is running out for excuses IMO.

He deserves next season but if we are still struggling this time next year some hard questions are going to have to be asked.

Has he failed if we miss the 8 this year?

No. He's failed if we're bottom 4 this year.

Take into account a bottom four hooker, a centre at six for the first half of the year, Kenny Edwards' suspension and the lack of a big body up front and we are a 6-10 quality squad. Add injuries to Norman, Jennings, and our biggest prop in Vave and we're a fringe 8 side with key injury issues.

Last year was year zero. He had more of the squad he wanted than the squad he inherited (from the worst period in our history, I'll remind you). But our ridiculous off field situation robbed him of 2/3 of his most important players with no one on the market to replace them.

So next year is now more like year zero. He's done well to sign a half so quickly. He's addressing the big body issue with Evans and potentially Meehan. He clearly knows we need a hooker, although it looks unlikely we'll get Peats now.

It's not about excuses. It's about what he's had to deal with. What other current coach has dealt with the shit BA has?

Can we sticky this. 3/4 of the forum needs reminding after a heavy loss.

There are only 3 teams in the NRL with worse defence than us - Titans, Tigers (assuming they don't win to nil tomorrow) and the Knights. That is pretty alarming

FMD how come this thread wasn't active since 23 May ? The assistant coaches must have been doing OK ? BA wasn't failing ?

Very poor if we finish bottom 4, but I don't think we will.

Salary cap shit has put us back another 12 months recruitment wise IMO, which was out of BAs hands.

He needs to at least see out his current contract. We cannot sack another coach under contract.

Just remember guys, we kinds of are supposed to lose to the Cowboys.

Us beating the cowboys would have been the shock result, not the other way around. They are head and shoulders a better team than us, especially with JT in the squad.

Lets not panic over an expected loss. If we lose to a team we are supposed to beat, then we can worry.

But Bernie said we were the strongest club in the west?
I just dont understand.
well, we kinda are...

Us, Penriff, or the Tigpies.

I suppose it might depend on where you draw the line for "The west". Also, I'm pretty sure he's referring to the clubs strength in a financial and size and stuff like that type of thing, not so much on field strength.
