Eels Appoint Brad Arthur as Head Coach

If anyone has read the Jack Gibson book, then he would be criticised for his fighting etc and some on here wold not accept big standover Jack as a coach

Give JT a break, he never wanted to leave the Eels and has a good pedigree for an NRL coach, knows systems and can coach. We don't want to sound like the nuffies in the media who talk about "poisoned chalice" etc, we need to get behind the club and hope a young coach is appointed.

The club needs fresh momentum and ideas after what we have had since BS left

Read Jacks book and that was certainly a much different era than the one we exist in now. Jack was a big part in the change of the professionalism in the game.

I am certain that Taylor can coach. I am also certain that no coach is going to be squeaky clean.

I found it very ironic that his first job as coach was to discipline two of his players for drinking when they shouldn't.

Like all coaches that come into the joint I will be behind them. I just have many reservations to his appointment as I did with Stuart.

in fairness to jt i am pretty sure the guy that hit him is the same peanut belted anasta for no acceptable reason.

the dude may have a screw or 10 loose.

jt has had his moments of stupidity when he was younger but i think has settled right down. it isn't like he was ever in a fittler moment since he retired from playing.

Come on mate, the bloke obviously has some issues but being Braith Anasta is reason enough to get belted.

I'd prefer Stone to Arthur. Even with Smith there I'd still be quite concerned about giving a rookie a go.

Talking about rookie coaches - 3 sides in this weeks gf qualifiers have coaches with 2 or less years nrl experience. One is in his first year ( Robinson ) and the other two (maguire/Geoff ) also had their sides in the QF qualifier last year in their first year as head coaches.

So nothing wrong with rookies.

Talking about rookie coaches - 3 sides in this weeks gf qualifiers have coaches with 2 or less years nrl experience. One is in his first year ( Robinson ) and the other two (maguire/Geoff ) also had their sides in the QF qualifier last year in their first year as head coaches.

So nothing wrong with rookies.

Maybe nothing wrong with rookies if they go to clubs that are already in good shape and have quality players. We aren't in that category, and so I think we need a more experienced sort of fellow. I reckon Cartwright would be extremely good.

Both Robinson and Maguire had two years of Super League experience under their belt.
