Another thing that shows what a shambles of a club we've become is that current players are talking in the media about who they want as coach, before an appointment is made. I know these guys are Gen Y, but no-one gets to choose your own boss...
As an employee you just shut up, wait for the decision, and then do your best under whoever is recruited for the role. But then doing their best for the coach is something our current players have not been good at at all in recent times.
Well yes, the chance to be at a club that looks more likely for a top 4 finish in the next couple of years, than the club that has finished 15th, 16th and 16th in the last three seasons, and starting from scratch again.
Well surely it comes down to appointing a coach who can instil that respect in the playing squad, whether they are previously known or not? Kearney and Stuart couldn't do it with our current/recent bunch of peahearts... good luck to whoever is next.
I still think players should not be quoted in the media (or social media) about these matters before decisions are made. It's out of line, simple as that.
The story is a beat up.
Don't worry all.
f**king hope so.
I'm sure Jason Taylor is the smartest candidate, and understands both the tactical and strategic sides of coaching. He would probably make a director of football redundant.
But a big part of being the head coach is man management and filling the role of a figurehead. I'm not confident in Taylor in this regard.
Actually I think it was 14th - I'd forgotten the last ditch win catapulted us up the table a bit (but surely not as far as 13th)?Actually we finished 13th in 2011. ;-)
And we aren't starting from scratch next year. We finally have some high quality young (i.e. cheap) depth players at the club next year. That means we can cover well for injuries through the season, and more importantly, we can make big moves in the player market next year.
He may be, it's not like the Souths players hated him. They liked him enough to go out drinking with him....
They didn't hate him. But one disliked him enough to punch him.
This appointment will not end well.
Why?
They didn't hate him. But one disliked him enough to punch him.
This appointment will not end well.
Forget about ending well . It's not goin to start well with the very real chance hoppa and peats back out
