I think they also need to see about packaging the supporter bus to away games with tickets in the same area. seems a bit silly to me to run a bus then the supporters go their seperate ways.

Good point. The Red V Army organize like 3-4 buses (200 people) when they go and they all sit together... imagine the atmosphere?

Yeah you see bloody Dragon jerseys everywhere! Saw them at the Sydney Olympics, Australian Open (Tennis) and no joking coming out of an Andrea Bocelli concert

the questions begs to be ask but WTF were you doing at a Andrea Bocelli
give yourself and uppercut

In my experience I have found St George fans to be the dumbest bastards in the whole comp, even worse than eels fans.

This idea has been mentioned way too many times for me to remember.
The idea has merit, but it can only work with both the full backing of the club and supporters.

A full bay would need to be set aside. The bay MUST be in an ideal location - not crappy end or corners, out of harms way, but on either the east or west terraces and preferrably near the middle. Over sized banners MUST BE ALLOWED, and maybe even a drum or other musical instrument. Even a very large team banner that covers the whole bay that can be unfurled as the team enters the field. It is always a good look on television.

Lastly, this needs the full co-operation of supporters.
By this, I mean that those who have had their beloved season tickets in their preferred locations MUST be prepared to sacrifice location for this for it to work properly. The large group that assmbled at the Tigers game was an excellent result, but there were still others that frequent this board for instance, who sat elswhere.

This CANNOT work until all these policies are put into place. We proved at the Tigers game that WE CAN get a large group together, and anyone who was there that night will agree that the atmosphere was as good as any.

That's my two bobs worth.

Suity

PS. If I am to commit to such a venture, particularly in a terrace Bay, the club will seriously need to do something about the catering at the stadium.
It is completely unacceptable to have to queue for food and beverages for 20 minutes or more during ANY sporting event.

Suity for Chief of the Eels Army.

I would be down for this, prepared to invest whatever money it takes. I love this club more then my money.

Also we need 2 decent bays set aside, by decent I mean decent viewing, similar to the Black Hole at Penrith and the Chook Pen @ the SFS. The Eastern Terrace would probably accommodate this easier as there isn't a tunnel to separate.

I wouldn't be giving up my current ST to sit behind the posts. But then they prob won't get the current ST holders to move!!

There's more to it than what Suity has already correctly stated.

For instance, you'd need to spend your time at away games getting off your butt and walking through the crowd, encouraging people to come sit with you. You'd need to have people at gates picking out supporters that look likely to go sit with the group and inviting them/informing them as they enter the ground. You would need to constantly hand out flyers etc telling people that the group exists, flyers which list the places to be not just next week but over the coming month or two (because not every person gets to go to every game). You would need a system that was planned ahead so that if you only ran into a person once and they weren't going to be able to get to an away game for another five weeks, they'd already know where to go.

You would need to be willing to basically achieve nothing for a year but still stick it out.

The Club would need to, as Suity said, exclude an entire bay in a prime location from general Season Tickets. This bay would essentially be empty - and look empty - for a significant period of time.

This would mean pissing off current STHs who would have their seats taken from them. It would mean pissing off the normally placid fans in nearby bays via what would need to be constant noise and movement.

Organising something via LU will achieve, essentially, nothing. Organising something via newsletter would achieve, essentially, nothing. You would need constant on the ground work from people at games to encourage people to take part.

You would need to work something out with Ticketek so that people didn't accidentally buy tickets in the middle of what would hopefully be a mob that was growing in size and noise. You'd need the bay designated so that as soon as people tried to buy tickets there they would have to agree to sit amidst the Blue & Gold Army.

The Club would need to be willing to pay for a bus that would essentially be very empty for quite some time. They'd need to be willing to pay for the banners as well as maybe some shirts. They'd need to set up a specific membership - not the general B&G Army that we have now but one that allowed people to buy into the specific group that exists simply to make noise, to sing, to have banners, to travel - to be different than the average Parra fan.

"Hey, let's post on LU!" doesn't even come close to cutting it.

I stated that already. It is an absolute pre-requisite, otherwise this can't, and won't work.

Agree with all of that. LU doesn't come close to cutting it at all, but it is a start. There are a core of supporters here who would be all for this. Let's start with them, and in the meantime, push the club to put your other suggestions into place.

I have no problem with forcing current season ticket holders to move. The club has more to gain from this than losing a couple of grumpy supporters.

I also favour the Eastern Terrace, as from what I have noticed (and I have sat in every part of the ground except the southern [dry] terrace lol), that the Eastern terrace fans are the most vocal and animated of the grounds supporters.

There will be some tough decisions to be made. We will need, as previously stated, full co-operation from the club and supporters.

I now feel though, that we have an administration prepared to take this seriously.

Just one other thing, MITS and I spoke to Terry Leabeater on Friday night at Sterlo's. He asked us what would be the major change that we would like made at the ground. Besides the pie in the sky stuff, like a stand at each end, our biggest complaint was the advertising hoardings at the north and south ends. He agreed that it was a rediculous idea, and promised to, at the very least, have a look at what could be done to change the situation. We can't ask of him any more than that.

It could always be modelled on the traditional football 'home end', as seen throughout Europe and locally with the green and gold army at socceroos matches and the very successful and noisy Cove at Sydney FC games and be behind the goalposts at one end. Less interference with other bays and fewer STH would lose their seats.

But if you were asking supporters to move from an area you would make it attractive to them to do that (ie. a reduced season ticket spend that year, first option on seats that are not renewed by a previous member, etc).

If other clubs can do it we should be able to.
