Great win, but they boys flogged the warriors game 1 last year and struggled throughout the season.

Still good signs, it's great we have some depth at Wenty and the Toyota cup.

It was a largely positive result wasn't it?

We did start the second half poorly but the ref certainly compounded it with a couple of dud calls that resulted in two NZ tries.

If we can keep relatively injury free throughout the grades, this 20s team can do some damage.
Really liked what I saw (yes I do understand it's only round 1)

I honestly couldn't tell you if they played the entire game but Pauli and Moeroa both played big minutes.

As far as I could tell Kaysa didn't get a run (Clay and Lussick ran the show for most of the game) but I could be wrong.

I'm pretty sure I saw Newbigging out there at prop but I didn't notice Muna.

If anyone else at the game (Joely01 etc) saw it different be sure to correct me as I'm not 100% for these ones.

Pretty much what I saw, I think Pauli did play the 80.

Pauli had a few handling errors, but also wasn't used as much as I thought he would have been. Kinda hard to judge his game.

It was a surprise to belt the Warriors in round 1 last year though, plus our best NYC players finished the year in first grade, or injured. Or injured in first grade.

This result was no surprise, and we no longer have a coach with a fetish for giving kids their NRL debuts. Of course, if we have an injury toll in the fulltime squad like last year's, some of these boys will play NRL this year for sure. I shouldn't count our chickens.

How good is it? We haven't had an NYC team in the finals since 2008, despite Harold Matts and SG Ball doing consistently well. This mob finally looks the goods.

#academy

Pou, it's very good, a lot of people won't be patient and will demand results early. But this club has a really bright future. I like were our club is headed at the moment

Good on your juniors, sounded like they scored some scorching tries. Warriors are notorious slow starters but no excuses, your guys gunned it

I mentioned to Avenger that it looked like Pauli was underutilised. In the context of the game though, the rest of the pack was doing so well that we didn't need to feed him a lot of ball.

You need to rebuild with players you develop yourself. With players demanding extra to come to a weak club, we'll never field a competitive team by buying a squad. The 'shit club tax' you pay on each player means the salary cap keeps your overall quality down.

Toovey called me, he thinks you're an idiot.

When has Toovey ever had to rebuild a club? He was handed a dynasty; a dynasty Hasler and Cleal built from juniors.

The current Roosters squad was built by Brian Smith from juniors. It wasn't until they had a solid young squad on cheap contracts that they had the cap space to buy a couple of stars. You f**king fool.

Those players came after they built their foundation. Horse before the cart.

Players don't charge extra to go to those clubs. But they used to.

I'll reserve judgement on anything displayed from all three grades this week. It's great we had 3 wins, but if we turn the clock back 12 months ago against the same 3 teams we did the same thing.

I hope it isnt a case of de ja vu.

Lussick handled nearly all of the fifth tackle kicking from first receiver.

Shoot me any other questions about the game now mate and I can fix you up without it getting lost in the updates.

Hey Forty20 who were our best? Sounds like Davis was good. Moeroa scored 2, our halves directed well, Goodall was strong. But who were our best and any run down would be great. Cheers

Kaysa Pritchard started from the bench in the #23 jersey. He came on and lasted maybe 5 minutes before going off with a leg injury. He was smashed the first time he ran the ball and was injured there.

I went to the under 20's

Im a bit of a football maestro. So here is my detailed take on what I saw.

Fabian Goodal - Strong boy-Looked a little slow turning around and off the mark, didn't do anything to suggest he was a star in the making

Falou - Reasonable size-Has a few skills but again didn't stand out -I actually was more impressed by the number 4.

ZDC - Played hooker mainly. He is like a bull terrier.Does look small thou but a nugget. Supports well has good feet and puts in for the full game.Always seems alert and in the action.Size for first grade would be only down fall.Does look a bit better than the others.

Lussick - bombs away :p

Pauli Pauli - Pushed the pass to many times for me.I don't like the way he holds the ball.He does have some skill. And he is a big boy .Looks a little slow out wide thou and still has baby fat on him.I don't think he plays any first grade this year to be honest.Untill he looses than puppy fat.He did make some good charges towards the end of the game but game was over by than. I think in a year or two he would make a good prop who can offload. He also grabs when tackles a bit.

11-Tepai Moeroa - Pick of the forward's for me.A better prospect than Pauli for outwide . His tackle is hard and great technique . Digs in and drives! Ran ball strong -has nice foot work and offload. But unlike Pauli didn't push the pass. Liked what I saw.

1-Nathan Davis- Looks the goods.Very strong for a guy who hasn't filled out. Glides like Brett mullin.Looks composed under high ball. I think he will make it at some point down the track.

Special note to the 15 & 16 both ran hard and strong

From one game if I had to pick future first graders?
Tepai Moeroa and Nathan Davis would be the ones id get excited about. Something about the two of them that I liked.

Also I disagree with Joely01

Warriors side looked more skillfull and had better plays and backline movements.

They dropped more bombs and well we where maybe bigger than them and over powered them. They where more skillfull thou and looked like they could score 100mtr tries. It felt like to me it was a matter of time till they clicked and blew us away with there speed.
10 mins to go it was anyones game.
