Good tackle from Clay brings up the fifth tackle for NZ.

Goodall fields the kick and breaks a tackle or two in his return.

I missed what happened in the rest of the set as a family had to get to their seats but Lussick bombs on the last, fields a tap back from Lavaka before kicking a second time to chase his own kick and trap the NZ fullback in goals.

Parra are held up over the line.

ZDC calls for the ball on the next play and runs it at the posts. He steps and weaves, looking for an opening but opts for an offload as Parra sweep to the right.

NZ shut the play down in the end and bring an end to our set.

In reply NZ crack us open down the middle. It becomes a race to the try line but Clay and Lavaka are on hand to make the tackle. The NZ player loses the ball in the tackle but the ref rules a strip and Clay is trapped in goals for a line drop out.

#16 crosses again for NZ, this time from an inside ball from dummy half. NZ prosper again from a questionable call but them is the breaks.

Conversion is added easily.

NZ trail Parra 24-28

Oh my, how is that for a twist of fate?

After sending the ball too far on a prior kick off, this time Parra earn a drop out as the Warriors all stand still and watch the kick sail into the ingoals.

Brute strength from Moeroa on this oaccassion as he scores under the posts. NZ has the numbers there but Moeroa simply went through them.

Easiest conversion of the game for Davis as he adds the two points.

Parra hit back immediately and lead the Warriors 34-24.

Not to be outdone by the NZ ball watching, PArra take their own turn at it but this time we recover it in time.

Parra are finding good metres around the ruck which allows Lussick to send the ball high on the last yet again. NZ allow the ball to bounce and it becomes a mad scramble for a potential try but the Warriors just come away with it.

Parra contain the Warriors quite well in the next set but they get away a good kick which forces Davis back to retrieve it.

Auckafolau cuts down a flying fullback from the 20m restart for NZ. The Warriors come down our left edge next, Goodall receives a massive fend on his first tackle attempt but comes back to complete the tackle.

NZ send another scrappy kick into our ingoals but it is too heavy and Parra come back to the 20m line.

Marching down the field now as we pressure the NZ try line. We spread the ball to Pauli who is quickly set upon by the NZ fringe defenders. He manages to offload to his outside man and the Eels come back towards the posts. Aloiai flies onto a ball and scores next to the sticks.

Davis converts yet again.

Parra lead NZ 40-24

75min gone.

NZ get a scrum on their 10m line as a result of a double knock on from an attacking Parra kick and try a cheeky kick from the first tackle.

Goodall gets back to secure possession and features in the next play as he scores a lovely try. Pauli makes a fantastic run down the left edge which is only bettered by his spectacular offload that finds (I think) Davis in support. The scrambling defence of NZ closes in on Davis but he links up with Goodall on the left sideline who powers past two or three defenders to score a try.

Davis finally misses a conversion.

Parra lead NZ 44-24

79min gone.

Clay makes a break down the middle after picking up a great offload by one of the forwards. Support tries to catch up to him but can't make it on time so he is forced to take on the fullback by himself. He is brought down and Parra quickly shift to the left but are repelled by NZ. Matterson calls for the ball on the next play and is rushed by the NZ defence. He spins out of the contact and threads through a pinpoint grubber for himself as he scores under the sticks.

Good heads up play by Matterson.

Davis adds the two points.

Full Time.

Parra defeat NZ 50-24.

I watched this game, I think this 20s team we have can go a long way this year.
Quite a big, fast team.
The score line does the warriors a favor, we seemed a bit lazy at the start of the second half to let them get back into the game. But the boys got back into it and finished really strong.

Good first up win, and a lot of promising signs

Is Lussick kicking from dummy half or first receiver?

Lussick handled nearly all of the fifth tackle kicking from first receiver.

Shoot me any other questions about the game now mate and I can fix you up without it getting lost in the updates.

It was a largely positive result wasn't it?

We did start the second half poorly but the ref certainly compounded it with a couple of dud calls that resulted in two NZ tries.

Did Pauli and Moeroa play 80 minutes on the edges? And did Newbigging get a run and where? And did you notice Jordan Muna or Kaysa Pritchard?

Great win! gee this davis kid sounds like he was involved in everything, Whats his best position?

His preferred position is centre but he has also slotted in on the wing on occasion.

Holbrook's decision to play him at fullback was a surprise but did not out of place. I suspect that may have more to do with the class of Davis more than anything else. He is definitely one to keep an eye on.

How good is it? We haven't had an NYC team in the finals since 2008, despite Harold Matts and SG Ball doing consistently well. This mob finally looks the goods.

I honestly couldn't tell you if they played the entire game but Pauli and Moeroa both played big minutes.

As far as I could tell Kaysa didn't get a run (Clay and Lussick ran the show for most of the game) but I could be wrong.

I'm pretty sure I saw Newbigging out there at prop but I didn't notice Muna.

If anyone else at the game (Joely01 etc) saw it different be sure to correct me as I'm not 100% for these ones.
