Is it possible to have commentary on the videos?
Surely you can plug a mic into the camera?

It is something I can definitely look to do but keep in mind that:

a) While I am familiar with our NYC team and will be comfortable in fluently calling movements involving our boys, I won't be able to consistently call the names of most merkins from our opponents (even with a team list handy) which can lead to some verbal fumbling or over simplistic tagging such as "And the Manly halfback hoofs another kick downfield...the half for Manly darts down the shortside" etc.

b) My tonsils are anything but golden and as such it is quite possible that you may find my play-by-play commentary passable in covering the game mechanically but you will struggle to go through an entire game of it as it will be grating on your ears.

Seeing as I finally got round to buying a decent pan/tilt tripod head and an extended battery for my camera now is a good time to ask...which is of greater value to you merkins, the current way I handle NYC and NSW Cup games or complete video footage of each game?

Ideally the two will not be mutually exclusive in the future but until I can get something organised I can only do one of the two.

You shoot the video and let the boys from Alice Springs do the commentating.
You'll be on a winner with a very large cult following swelling around YouTube etc..
Get HJ to provide all the music.
Poo Poo would make a good sideline eye.... AH, forget I even suggested this, he'll probably grow to be hated far more than our Parra/Pirtek stadium ground announcer.

Given the sparse coverage of the NYC and NSW Cup provided by Fox it would be frustrating if they impeded fan footage of non televised games but I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

If there is an issue over television rights/licences with Fox I certainly won't cause LU any grief by uploading/linking any complete game footage but I believe I should be able to create a highlight package without giving the lawyers a sniff.

Its an NRL issue, Fox pay to televise the games.

Optus tried delayed telecasts and the NRL took legal action and we are not prepared to go through the same thing.

Bottom line is you cant post links to illegal streaming at LU, because my advice from above is that it is illegal. I can't say any more than that.

just so you know, its none of our business unless you post a link here but I'm glad you are seeking advice for your own benefit and keep lu out of it

It maybe a matter of whether its not viewable by the public and not for profit, I'd be heading up that road in your discussions because people take photos of their fav players all the time and no one kicks up a stick as its for their own private collection, so there maybe some happy medium there some where
