This...from the same merkin who lists Gower as an edge forward in their squad succession thread despite him being a specialist middle for ages now.
He's playing second roe in reserve grade this week.
I’d also suggest Gutho is our fullback now rather than a utility, despite the fact we’ve tried to turn him into a 10minute hooker. Euphemism intended
Gutherson has been named in positions other than fullback, and probably will again in the future. I've a good mind to relist Hoffman as a utility, if I haven't already.

My opinion, short and sweet. Match officials will always make mistakes, some blatant, some not so much. The NRL would fold like a deck of cards if it was found to be favouring any team as far as on field decisions is concerned. God help the NRL if anybody on here had the gumption to become a ref.

I'm ok with the on field guys but the video refs should never have some of the clangers they have.

I have said many times that i do not believe the NRL have any inside direction to favour teams, it is the referees who study tape and allow teams to get away with certain things because they will only penalise when the team goes above and beyond the "normal" for them.

So the Storm for example, they love wrestling and twisting and turning and because they are so good at it the referees let them go on with tackles for an age because they will only penalise them when they excessively use extra force.

The new stripping rule is having the same issue, we now know a team like the Raiders are awesome at it so they let them try and wrestle the ball away from the player longer and longer instead of just calling held.

We on the other hand don't believe in wrestling (and funnily enough we are the least penalised team) so when we even remotely try we get penalised so then the opposition gets a roll on and that's why we are on the back foot so much. We need to be willing to give away more penalties but we obviously don't trust our defence enough to back ourselves....whereas the Rooster and Storm etc. have no issue backing their defence.

There was a directive from the NRL to the Refs in the off season to be lenient in penalising teams who played free flowing footy. This must be the reason for the lack of penalties against us this year. Wether that is coincidental to the style we play or something the coaching staff have exploited is anyones guess. After watching that vid of a miced up Arthur yesterday, I'd like to think its the latter.

Tracks!!! We have surely crossed paths
I went there from 1988 to about 1992-3. TBH, I don't think I ever scored a root from Tracks. I did win a few pool comps down there, saw my brother get knocked out down there in that den of inequity and watched my cousin get polished by some punk scragg with a Sinead O'Connor haircut and a studded dog collar around her throat. That joint was always good for a blue at closing and the best thing about the place was it wasn't too far to stumble for an excellent kebab after closing or too far to stagger for a train or cab. If I was driving, all I had to do was make it to the Golden Century Chinese restaurant down the road n chuck a left and if the cops hadn't got me by there, my car knew the way home.
Ahhh, the f**kin good ole days eh!

It was great in both locations. The Mobil and the Caltex? I'm pretty sure that was the same van that originally started out at the Shell (Tingaroo), Google it, on Penno RD between Murray Farm RD and Nth ROcks RD on the eastern side in the early to mid 80's.
Edit, Don't bother Googling. There's nothing there.

In the early 80's, my brother and I and a few school mates would sneak out at night and meet up and roam the neighbourhood smokin billies n pinching milk money n nicking the change out of unlocked cars and being idiots n so forth.
All the older merkins with hotted up cars would roll up to that Shell on Penno Rd with their roots for the night and hang out and eat kebabs and smoke joints and root their sheilas in their cars at the community centre car park next door to the hotel at the end of the Carlo ovals there so it was a place we liked to hang around
. A kebab than was $2. When we were broke, we would get 1 person to order 4 kebabs. We'd all hang around the wndow until he put the 4 kebabs on the counter and the kebab man would call out the order and say $8 matey!. We'd grab the kebabs without paying and bolt down the ovals and scoff them. That Mediterranean Descendant must have had a short memory as this happened more than once.
One night he was ready for it lol. He had a younger bloke there one night hiding in the bushes with one of them big f**koff knives they use for carving the meat off the kebab roll. He chased and tackled my mate Scott and took the kebab off him and went into a Middle Eastern rage and while holding that blade to his throat, promised him that if ever any of us did this again our throats would be slit and we would end up as kebabs ourselves. We never tried it on again after that lol.

Haha Classic. I know exactly where you are talking about. I don’t live there now but the North Rocks/Carlingford/Epping/beecroft/Penno areas were fun places when I was a teenager
