I recall plenty of comments about being prepared to defend your mistakes, which came after a loss. But did we actually play a riskier game?
Well our completion rates were provably lower, but I also remember the different style. We got early ball to Ma'u, Edwards and the halves (Norman/Ma'u) who very much played left/right. This fell apart completely whenever the ref allowed the opposition to slow the ruck or move early in defence, culminating in 2018.

He also said we have been working on increasing ball movement for years, and that the test will come when there's two points on the line. You have to remember that every player that runs out on the field is still the one who needs to decide whether it's the right time to pass or not. If he thinks the risk of a turnover is too high he'll hold the ball. You might've noticed we can concede big scores when possession goes against us. Our team isn't built for defending repeat sets. Some of our best players aren't especially good defenders, which is one of the reasons they haven't played much Origin.
We had the third best defence in 2020 with basically the same starting pack outside of Papali’i. In fact I’d say the 2021 side was better overall. How would you explain that?

Papali'i isn't a good defender. I'm not saying he can't tackle, but his repeat efforts aren't great and neither is his lateral movement.

But we still concede so few points because we hold the ball and kick well.

Actually, what does he define as ‘the modern era’?
Just this century? Longer? Shorter?
I’m not reading the f**king article so can someone tell me?

Nah. Taumololo is the best prop of the modern era.
I don’t care what number he wears.
Jnr is more like Artie Beetson in the way he plays.

Toumolololo is a big meter eater and dangerous from 15m out. A bit inconsistent however ?
