Or their recruitment and pathways team have a knack for picking talented hard working individuals. More so then turning lazy pricks into hard workers...

I don't think storm are creating players to be something they aren't. I think it is more so they are better at identifying hardworking talent than everybody else.
Yep, 100%

Unlike most roar articles. This is from a accredited journalist

And its the same the journo who questioned BA in the presser on Friday Night.

And giving it too him about his bench rotation.
Good article. The fact that we were looking at middle forwards means that the coaching staff doesn't have faith in the bench players to do the job for the season, I think that is pretty obvious, so his comment was obviously BS about them being good enough. But, he is isn't going to say in the press conference that his interchange forwards are not good enough, as that will likely impact those players mindset. Chasing two middle forwards for the rest of the season did that job for him without him having to utter the words.

He’s right that our middle defence is our problem, as I’ve been saying for ages but then he says this:

“ In the biggest two wins of the year – away at Melbourne and away at Penrith – Brad Arthur didn’t use the 17th player at all.

Indeed, he didn’t use his 17th at Melbourne despite the game going to golden point and despite that player being Wiremu Greig, a prop. The Eels only used five interchanges to the Storm’s nine. It makes no sense.”

It makes no sense but we won. The fact is our bench props aren’t even close to the starters for quality, and we need to focus on controlling the ball. There’s no guarantee we’ll dominate possession but it’s sport. There’s no guarantees of anything. Even the best team isn’t guaranteed to win every week.

Didnt we have a similar bench in the year we were defending really well
Last year we were defending better but we had Matterson on the edge and Papali’i on the bench. It made our right edge stronger defensively but we struggled to get the most out of Matterson and Papali’i in attack. Pros and cons

Nothing in that article that should suprise any semi-intelligent Eels supporter.
Although some people on here claim we have an awesome squad, we actually only have about 12-13 players that would make the top 17 somewhere else and those 4 forwards that wouldn't are the ones we rely on for our bench.

Given our reliance on a power game, does anyone wonder why we are inconsistent?
Paulo and to a lesser extent RCG were missing (in attitude) for our game against the Dogs, and if they don't perform we can easily get points put on us as the Dogs showed.

Hopefully Rodwell and possibly Ogden can step up and do a better job than Makatoa and some of the performance from Oregan and Niukore of late.

I stand by my comment the other day, we would be better served having Papalii come off the bench as a middle when RCG and/or Paulo go off as we would at least have some punch. And if that means Matterson to the edge, so be it. We need his defence more than we need his offloads up the middle.

I actually prefer his offloads in the middle and he playing the middle half role as he has a much better passing game than NRown did. His offloads in the middle are quite measured and not willy nilly and this is one way to make opposition defense more tired as well as allow us to get a rollon.

I do prefer paps in the middle so stick marata on the edge.

Providing an opportunity or two for El Zak and Emu and not wiping his ass with Nrown may well have provided some answers as well. If hes not happy with Oggy and Maka then try something different ffs.
Marata has also been a huge disappointment this year and is being selected on past performances.

Here's an alternate explanation for you. He has ranked our players already and the only 'something different' that is better than those two is somebody currently playing NRL every week at another club.

Here's an alternate explanation for you. He is being selected because, despite being down on form, he is still better than the blokes who aren't getting picked.
