No, the question was whether he was given the same opportunity as Jake Arthur.
I think that's an odd question because Fogarty was signed from QLD reserve grade to play for the Eels in 2017. He started in NSW Cup and was released in July 2017. He played 12 games total in NSW Cup.

During the early rounds, Will Smith and Corey Norman were halves BUT Moses had his first game at the Eels in May 2017.

We also had Jeff Robson 1.0 although I don't know if he played. Then we signed Moses. In contrast to that during Jake's time we didn't replace either Smith or Robson, thus moving him up the pecking order. So that's not the same opportunity.

We do know that during his time he wasn't given the same opportunity. Otherwise he'd have played instead of will Smith.
He was here for less than a season FFS and admitted that his head wasn't in it. Sounds like we did the sensible thing by not promoting him to first grade.

Easy to look at what he is doing now and say we missed a chance but he is a completely different person and player now.

Source: Fogarty's own words.

I don't think he said his head wasn't in it. He said he was unhappy. He did say he'd worked his butt off. Irregardless, Arthur essentially replaced Will Smith and is our only backup half. If Fogarty had the same opportunity he'd have been playing. I don't know why you guys want to argue something so obvious.

I think you're drawing a long bow to find instances of unfair opportunity when it comes to Fogarty. We signed him late 2016, however early 2017 Moses came onto the market. This article is dated 5 April and we had already made him an offer. So that means we made an offer to Moses prior to Rnd 4 2017.

Rnd 1 we started with Gutho and Norman as 6 & 7. French was FB.
Rnd 2 we started with Gutho and Norman as 6 & 7. French was FB.
Rnd 3 we started with Gutho and Robson as 6 & 7. French was FB.
Rnd 4 we started with Gutho and Norman as 6 & 7. French was FB.

Context re French. in 2016 he had an amazing Rookie year. Makes sence that we shifted him to FB.

Right so he was fourth or fifth choice half, whereas Arthur was third and even a 14. That's not the same opportunity.

Are you just pointing out that Fogarty was lower in the pecking order in 2017 than JA is now?

Or are you suggesting that Fogarty should have been "given" an opportunity by being moved up the pecking order? You started by saying "given an opportunity" but you've since softenend to "had an opportunity".

I don't see the difference you're implying and haven't softened anything. The rank in the pecking order essentially is the opportunity. Arthur has played NRL games as a result of being higher, both as a half and even a utility. So no they didn't get the same opportunity. And their careers thus far suggest we either haven't judged one or both of them on their ability.

FFS. So if Jeff Robson was still on the books in 2021/22 and playing 2017 level, you're implying that JA would be selected ahead of him ?

Do you think Fogarty should have been moved higher up the pecking order in 2017?

Well no I wasn't but I'm confident he would be. The point is there isn't a Jeff Robson on the books.
OK then, If Will Smith was still on the books, are you confident that Will would not have seen any FG in 2022 as Jake would have been ahead of him in the pecking order ?

You still aren't getting it. Will Smith isn't on the books and so Arthur has been given an opportunity that Fogarty was not.

Well if he was then you guys might have an argument that he was given the same opportunity.
That isn't my argument at all. I'm just trying to understand what yours is. If its just that Fogarty had more players in front of him than Arthur then it will be a little anti-climactic tbh.

So. I'll try one more time. Please try not to answer in riddles:

Do you think Fogarty should have been moved higher up the pecking order in 2017?
