he scores tries on the edge too, I think he is too good to waste in the middle

A fair option Poo although Teps looks a tad leaner which I suspect may see him spend longer minutes on the edge. Possibly the rise of MM and his connection with Teps may be another determining factor for him to become a weapon on the edge.
Its all very exciting.
If Moeroa spends more time on the edge it means Edwards spending less time on the field. I don’t see why we would limit our most dynamic attacking forward’s minutes.

As for Moeroa getting leaner, he said I an interview last year that he was losing weight specifically so he could play longer in the middle.

So many scenarios Poo. Id like to see Edwards do a little less sideways running this year but I agree, as it was last season, he was our most dangerous forward. All the talk of KE being squeezed out has died down as well so good signs there.
Will be interesting to also see how Evans goes and if that changes the rotation.

They both have played on the left in the past. The closer positions get to the middle of the field the less they are affected by their preference for one side or the other.

2nd row still has sides. Which foot do they step off? Which hand fends better? Which way do they pass better? Which shoulder tackles better? Small advantages add up

Of course - Ma'u moved to the right when Fritchard was on, allowing the latter to benefit from his years of instincts honed on the left side of the field. But it matters less than further out wide.

Yeah I reckon BA will ignore players dominant side based abilities too. There is no left or right in the 13 fullback formation. But realistically between 2nd row to wing, ignoring the halves/spine in attack, they all matter equally in terms of how plays perform either side of ruck. That is they all only matter a little bit but given the choice you’re going to play Manu on the left and Tepai/Kenny E on the right. Which at the moment you’d think is more important than playing I don’t know at left wing and who the f**k knows on right

I think the difference between left and right wing is a lot bigger than the difference between left and right edge forwards. Wingers are far more likely to beat some merkin with a step or a fend, which is dependent on which side of the field they're on. This is far less common for edge forwards.

Certain play-the-balls (probably most of them) need to be from a certain point laterally across the field. Dead centrefield is the best place to kick from, for example. Brown and Edwards are often called on to take that fourth tackle settler, and isolating a defender with footwork is a good chance of getting a quick play-the-ball. That's often better than a couple of extra metres.
