Umm where did I say that? captain geniuso. Just because I don't agree with the current board and their constant f**k ups doesn't mean I want the old board back. I'm just here to keep the bastards honest. And so far the bastards are doing good job of being incompetent. You know what I too was a supporter of this current board but all this lack good governance and other stuff has finally convinced me of the need of change. Independent directors.

How are the independent directors working out for the Tigers again Jake?

Tagpies supporters are complaining that the new Indy Directors are just a bunch of suits who know nothing about footy.

Wests Tigers have now slumped to equal last, but that wasn’t the most disturbing outcome at Concord this week. In our humble opinion, the loss of Junior Kiwi halfback Te Maire Martin was the most damning reflection of the joint venture’s immense struggle.

Martin signed with Penrith after the Tigers chose not to exercise an option in their favour to keep him for just $85,000 next season. We’re told the joint venture’s independent directors made the call, much to the disappointment of the football department.

How are the NRL "independent directors " going at Knights, Tigers, and Titans?

Who would know?
I'd like to know....

1. Who they are?
2. When they were appointed?
3. What were the issues they were dealt with?
4. What brief they were given when appointed?
5. Progress so far.

Then, and only then, can anyone answer such an open question.

And the media leaks criticising them actually sound far more like disgruntled unprofessional footy hacks trying to undermine the tough decisions that the incoming directors have had to make due to the cap mismanagement and populist decisions made before them.

Yep, the relevant questions are 1) who are the independent directors and 2) what is the resulting skills mix / power balance on the board.

In the case of Wests, they've got 3 independent directors on a board that is supposed to have 10 members, but which only has 5 members (as Balmain can't nominate their 5 while they owe a billion dollars). Of the 3 independent directors, Lucio is a smart operator (but with no sporting background that I know of), and the other two are marketing types, who may be useful on a 10-person board, but are not useful when they represent 40% of a 5-person board.

Not real sure if Luce is a smart operator. I know people who've said he's a light weight. Yes he has no sporting background so he might add something from a financial side?? And the other 2 are in the same category . Just ask those at the club. The Tigers are going to have a few more tough years ahead.
