Unless he was on more than $300k e.g. $500k (including TPA).

So Titans essentially paid $150k for him this year leaving $200k paid by us (which could be in TPAs since they all count under our salary cap)

I don't believe this is the case as has been mentioned previously that the board didn't want to be releasing players this year that they'd have to be paying for.

Clear cut it seemed was the motivation behind Peats being the one tapped, right amount of money saved to get cap compliant and not have to pay him to play against them.

I don't think it is exaggeration to say that BA ranks with Gibbo as the best coach Parramatta have ever employed. The teams Fearnley and Gibson built were obviously exceptional, and Smith created an successful tenure, but BA came into this clusterf**k after it had been decimated by Kearney and Sticky and has rebuilt a culture of which we as fans can be proud.

Spot on.

During this whole debacle at times I wonder if it could be worse, and certainly could!

Thank god we have BA as our coach, the players love playing for him, his respected, gets 100% out of everyone and knows what his doing, like you said he has taken over a pile of shit to be honest and turned the whole culture around and turned this team into a very very good football team.

Wins against Manly and the Bulldogs the second time around in previous years would be a definite loss and a by a fair margin, those results are prime examples of what he has done with this team through all the adversity.

As long as he is here, there will always be hope.

Makes a good point here. A team theoretically that is found to be over the cap in the coming months will have to have all their points stripped regardless of how much over the cap they are yet can get penalised more than Parra. The punishment hurts more based on when you are found out, not by how much.

Also, if you're caught after the transfer deadline you're unable to shed players because other clubs aren't able to sign them.

I think that is a slight exaggeration. He is doing a great job but it is probably too early for such comparisons.

Yeh, I'm not sure that it does set a precedent, other than in substantively similar cases (i.e. an apparent concerted and sustained conscious attempt to get around the cap).

Did anyone watch Sterlo last night? Watching the encore now with Mick Gordon, a few things stand out

1-He was very relaxed about the Peats situation, there was no anger or anything like that. Boys have been training even on days off and are really keen and focused on winning games.

2-The boys have heard nothing from the board about any of it, everything is coming through BA and the NRL. It sounds like they haven't even spoken to the players, which is really really poor.

Basically he seemed really calm about the whole thing, gave credit to BA for shielding the boys and it really sounds like Arthur has got them in a good place

You know what, I don't know if I like the idea of the board talking to the players. I like the idea of any front office to team communication going through BA. Helps keep the players in a "bubble" so they aren't being bombarded by a thousand voice talking all at once. They have once voice to direct them, which would be BA.

I would assume that the players would probably prefer that too. They don't need to know about political agendas or any other crap a board member might bang on about.

Maybe not, but surely the players deserve clarity. "This is what happened, this is what we're doing". Sit down with them just once, outline the important details. How hard is that? Gordon was saying the players basically know what we do from the NRL...

I suppose so, wouldn't hurt them I guess, but who would do that? Gerard I guess?

Yeah if the eels are anything like where i work, there is a chain of command and no f**ker any higher than your immediate manager wants to bother talking to you ... of course it results in a shitty poor communicating wkrkplace, but hey thats how the higher ups want it

If I was BA I wouldn't let the board near the players. Merkins have done enough damage and the last thing I would want if I was BA would be a bunch of wankers making excuses to the players which possibly could distract them from their primary function of playing footy

If it's a BA decision then that's fine...but based on the board's behaviour so far it's equally as likely they're just hiding.
