Eels side for '05?

Mate.....trawl your way back through the threads...there are countless of what our side will be like next year.

Everytime I come up with one, I have forgotten about someone else so it is a nightmare.

All going well with injury, Smithy will have selection dilemmas of a good nature.

8 Cannings
9 Riddell
10 Caylo
11 Morrison

2. Matt Peterson
3. Luke Burt
5. Timana Tahu
5. Eric Grothe
6. John Morris
7. PJ Marsh
8. Nathan Cayless (c)
9. Mark Riddell

14. ?
15. Dean Widders
16. Chad Robinson
17. Aaron Cannings

I think this is how the team will look to start with.......

If Leulaui comes over i expect him to play in the halves with Marsh or Morris and the one left out to be the utility/dummy-half on the bench

That Backline is Piss Weak.

 so true agent mulder! looks like The Colonel is trying to be agent scully :?:

I'm not a big fan either really but I'm really just wondering what AM's take on it all is. ;-)

Personally I'd like to see in the backline -

1. McKinnon
2. Tahu
3. Smith B
4. Delaney
5. Grothe
6. Morris
7. Marsh

especially given that it appears likely that Davis isn't coming. Delaney and Ben Smith offer more in defence......

Thats a good fresh look at things Colonel, the biggest issue is our lack of quality defence. I can forgive Tahu and Grothe for their defencive inadquaceys because they are such good attacking players. But i think Burt in the centres isn't doing anyone any favours.

The side I'd like to see (at least at the beginning of the year), but won't:

1. McKinnon
2. Tahu
3. Morris
4. Wagon
5. Grothe
6. Marsh
7. Leuleuai
8. Cayless
9. Riddell
10. Stringer
11. Hindmarsh
12. Robinson
13. Morrison

14. Widders
15. Vella
16. Cannings
17. Mateo

When Riddell needs a break, Widders to move into the centres and Morris to hooker.

Interesting having Morris in the centres havn't seen anyone suggest that before.

As far as my side goes

1. McKinnon
2. Grothe
3. B.Smith
4. Tahu
5. Petersen
6. Morris
7. Leuluai
8. Stringer
9. Riddell
10. Cannings
11. Hindmarsh
12. Cayless (C)
13. Morrison

14. Marsh
15. Robinson
16. Vella
17. ?????

Haven't decided who #17 will be but it would depend on conditions, opponent etc.

I take it from that side that god must be either Robinson, Wagon or Afamsaga?

Considering his background as a utility back, having played on the wing and in the halves; and that he has good defence... centre could be a great position for him at Parra.

Morris could easily fit into a centre position, he has a bit of speed + ball playin skills
question is wether he would want to play there or not

I mean if Perenara or Mateo were up for the job at the beginning of the season Id say put them in but they probably arent. I just dont want to see Wagon out of the 13 again

for once we agree on something UTE, about Wagon staying in #13, however, i do think he could still offer something in the centres, particularly in defence

my team was based on the most likely events and form from last year, pecking order, however, i would like to see some changes, but Morris at centre is not really one of them
