Eels v Bulldogs in Twenty20

A SNIPPET of interesting trivia: long before Todd Greenberg ran the Bulldogs, he was running between wickets as a highly talented opening bat. In fact, Greenberg was such an accomplished willow-wielder he even made the NSW Second XI and landed a contract in the subcontinent.

All of which spells big trouble for the Parramatta Eels and the multi-talented Jarryd Hayne, who have locked in a Twenty20 cricket match against their arch-enemies for early next year.

Hayne, a footballing prodigy and budding athlete growing up, appears up against it with Greenberg's cricket CV.

Either way, the January 31 Bankstown Oval clash is sure to whet fans' appetites on the eve of the 2010 season. Stars from both teams will be asked to play, with all proceeds going to charity.

And to spice things up, there's also a plan to enlist celebrity fans with a fair degree of cricketing pedigree.

Bulldogs boys Mark and Steve Waugh are both on the Belmore hitlist, while Australia's one-day spearhead Nathan Bracken is a tragic Eels fan. Some figures at the Bulldogs are even chasing former coach Steve Folkes - a handy first-grader in his day and more recently the West Indies fitness coach.

Officials believe the game could attract a 10,000-strong crowd, given the size of both teams' fanbase and the rivalry that flows between them.

wooo! Bankstown oval is just up the road from me (even have my cricket training there:)), should be heaps of fun.

Would be good to get a healthy crowd in and see how some of these blokes go with the willow. I just wonder what time of the day/night it will be played ... I would hope it is during the day

No chance they'll get cameras there I wouldn't think.

As long as no-one pulls a hammy, then it's a good idea.
They can get cameras at Bankstown oval, I am pretty sure I saw some at the women's world cup final they played there earlier in the year...

Fair enough... I guess I suspect they wouldn't bother for this though? Charity match mainly intended for a live in-person crowd.

Will tickets be available to the public????

They should do it the same day as Aus VS WI twenty20 at SCG (Feb 23 I think?)

They can have it as a curtain raiser to that game.

it may have only been a one off

it was a while ago because i remember Shane Lee was still playing.
No, the Blues play there every now and then, I think it is listed as one of their home grounds, maybe a couple of games there a season
